It's 2:30 AM & I can't sleep, there's rainstorms happening & no matter how hard I try to ignore it, it only creeps me out more. Luckily, my parents bought us all these weird pop up cots that are supposed to be in case of an emergency but I use mine during storms. I walk into my closet & open up the cot, I drag my blankets & pillows off my bed & throw myself on it. You'd think it'd be uncomfortable but it isn't.
Since I can't fall asleep I text Katie, I know she won't see it till morning but why not send my message now?
Hey Kate, wanna hang out today? We can go get Menchies & pedicures, my treat!
I hit send & I almost instantly get a response back.
Can't. It's the 1st Kach (Katie + Zach) official week together so we're having date night.
I read the message & roll my eyes, I really couldn't believe she was blowing me off for her boyfriend!
I try to brush it off & fall back asleep but I can't help it, I just felt so hurt. I get on social media & update my Twitter: feelin' let down & all i want now is menchies. :(
Instantly I get a text from Daniel, who I didn't even think would be awake. What happened? Why are you sad? Why are you even awake? Who are you talking about?
As annoying as it was to be questioned, I get it, he's concerned. But, I ignored the messages & forced myself back to bed, I didn't want to deal with any of this right now.
My mom comes & wakes me up saying I overslept & I need hurry to get ready for practice, "carpool will be here in 10 minutes!" I figured since I skipped yesterday I'll actually go today. I quickly find a leotard, nike leggings & my black nike tennis. I probably got dressed faster than I ever have before. I throw my hair into a messy bun & run down the stairs in attempt to get breakfast before my ride is here. My mom, bless her, hands me three paper bags full of food; one for breakfast, one for lunch & my snacks. She kisses me goodbye & I'm almost on my way out the door when the car honks. "That's my ride, see ya mom!" I begin to run out with a smile from ear to ear when I lift my head & realize this wasn't the ride I was anticipating.
Daniel is in his truck waiting on me, I know I shouldn't get in his truck but if I didn't, I risked being caught by my mom or even my friends. I jump into his truck & he greets me with a kiss. I pull out my phone & quickly text Kate: No need to stop by my house, I have a ride to the gym! See ya soon! Love you!
Daniel keeps looking over to my shoulder trying to see who I'm texting. He grabs my wrist & begins to unknowingly squeeze it. "Who are you texting? Why are you telling them you love them?" I remove my hand away from his grip & begin to rub my wrist. "It was just Kate. I really need to get to the gym, please take me I'm already running late." He nods his head & smiles at me before promptly taking off from my house.
As we drive to the gym Daniel stops at Dunkin' Donuts to buy breakfast & although I'm running late, I don't say anything because every moment with him is great. We get a couple of regular glazed donuts & some iced coffee & we're back on the road to gym. Daniel looks at me with a very sad face & begins to bring up my tweet from earlier this morning. "I know I shouldn't care, but who was your tweet about? Why'd you feel let down?" He sounds genuinely concerned & well, he's really the only one I can confide in right now. "It was about Kate, I'd asked her if she wanted to hang out, but she told me she was "busy" with Zach so I kind of just felt hurt, ya know?" He grabs my hand & kisses it multiple times, "yeah, I get that. Don't worry about her, you & I will have fun together instead!"
As we pull into the gym parking lot he parks the truck & I notice that Mary is sitting outside on the steps. I try to grab my things quickly & get off the truck before she notices me, but Daniel is trying to tell me he loves me & kiss me before I get off the truck. "I love you too! I've got to go before Mary sees us & rats us out to my parents! I'll call you later okay?" I kiss him on his forehead & gather all my things. "Promise? Promise you'll call me?" He says with puppy dog eyes & a pouty lip. "I promise!" I say as I jump off the truck.
As I walk up to the doors I see that Mary looks rather sad & upset. "What's wrong? Why are you sad, Mare?" She lifts her head, her face is red & her eyes are puffy like she'd been crying all morning. "Nothing, no reason. You're late though, you have a 15 minute run so get inside, I'll be in after a bit." As much as I wanted to sit & really know why she was upset, I knew I needed to hurry & get into the gym to begin drills.
After my run is over I join Katie at the uneven bars. I greet her with a hug & our signature air kisses. "Morning Katie-Kate!" Katie, as usual, looks so pretty. She'd recently grown out her hair past shoulder length & she always looked killer in every leotard she wore. "Morning Annie, I missed you yesterday!" She grabs me by the wrist & I make a face, I didn't really notice earlier but my wrist was tender & red from when Daniel grabbed it. She grabs my hand & examines my wrist again. "What the heck is this Annie?" I nervously laugh & try to play it off. "It's nothing, I tried on my new grips last night & I guess I tightened them too much." She furrows her eyebrows & begins to really think about what I've just said. "But why does it look like there's finger marks? Your grips wouldn't leave those marks!" I keep my cool & reassure her that it was my grips, it was a valid excuse really. "Kate, just stop, it's my grips, I tightened them way too much. I know this, I already told my mom about it." Actually, no one knew about this but Kate. Daniel didn't mean to hurt me, he didn't. He loves me & he'd never intentionally hurt me like this.
"Aren't you seeing a guy again? Or at least that's the rumor on Instagram." I scoff & roll my eyes. "No Kate, I'm not "seeing" anyone. Since when do you feed into internet rumors?" I ask in a joking manner, but she was evidently was not taking this lightly. "If I find out he did this to you Annie, I swear!" Her face begins to turn red, she's getting angry & worked up over nothing! "Nothing happened! & even if something did happen, it wasn't intentional. Now drop it!" I actually can't believe that she's questioning me right now, isn't she my best friend? Isn't she supposed to believe me? Besides, Daniel wouldn't hurt me, he loves me. It was just an accident.
