I stop in front of the new front door Eli added since the last time I've been to the house. I admire the door for a minute, before opening it and walking into the home.
"Eli?" I shut the door behind me.
"Hey, babe." I turn to him walking towards me, arms open and safety glasses resting on the top of his head. He wraps his arms around me and kisses the top of my head.
"Thanks for coming, I want to show you the progress we've made since the last time you were here. Here." He holds my hand and leads me into the kitchen.
"So, I actually really liked your idea to have the island be navy, so we changed that, and added the subway tile backsplash. What do you think?" The kitchen is gorgeous, and the fact that he listened to me and make these changes to his house, makes my heart soar.
"Eli, it's amazing," My eyes can't settle on one thing, everything is so perfect.
"Let me show you the upstairs, I know you haven't seen much of it." I follow him to the stairs and watch as he rambles on about the house, I can't hide my smile at his excitement.
We stand in the master bedroom that once again, blows my mind at how beautiful the house is.
"We're actually ahead of schedule, oh and look, couples walk in closets." He guides me over to the closets, they both shared similar doors, but on the inside they were individually tailored to style, our styles.
"This house is as much me as it is you, you've had such great ideas that fit so perfectly. I mean I can see us here. It's so perfect for us, Mar, and I know that this is a big deal but I-"
"I'm pregnant." I instantly regret telling him this way, but I can't hold it in, I can't put this off. I have to tell him, I need to know how he's going to react because I haven't, I've shoved it in the untouched corner of my mind.
"What?" I can't read him, all the excitement wipes off his face, but he doesn't look upset.
I nod, "I'm pregnant, Eli, and I know this is at a bad time, you're busy with this house and I'm working and I'm not going to lie that I'm absolutely terrified," I look down at the hardwood floor as I aimlessly ramble on.
He tightly wraps his arms around me, his face digs into my neck. I furrow my brows at his reaction, he's happy? My tears that had been threatening to fall now leave small wet spots on his shirt. He pulls back, his eyes watery and the biggest smile I've seen on his face.
"This is perfect, I mean I know we didn't plan for this, but shit we're having a baby." He laughs, and for once I feel okay. I feel happy, my smile starts to match his.
"Yeah, we're having a baby." Saying it out loud makes me feel weirder than ever, I'm actually pregnant.
"Okay, well, I know this seems like a lot right now, but I actually asked you to come here because I was hoping you'd fall in love with the place and, you'd want to move in, with me." At this point it's impossible to hide my smile, he's in this, he wants this.
"Well it worked, I'm completely in love with this house." He wraps his arms around my waist, and kisses my forehead.
-A few weeks have passed since I found out about the pregnancy. I'm not yet showing, but the morning sickness still hits me, every morning.
Eli and I haven't told anyone yet, and it feels weird living with a human growing inside of me and not being about to ramble on about it.
Half of the time I felt sick because of the baby, the other half stress. So much is going to change so soon. Eli is finishing the house that'll be ours, and the though alone is stressing me out, are we rushing into this? Not to mention the baby, I have to tell my family, the team, Spencer, and then of course actually have a baby and that alone keeps me up at night.
"Do you want me to drop you off at work? I'm going that way anyway, I'm going to this shop I think will have the new windows we want, or hopefully they can customize them." He hands me a mug, by the smell I can tell it's hot chocolate.
"Awe, you're the cutest." I say, hoping he would do the cute face scrunch he did when I called him that. I smile when he does.
"That sounds good, can we leave soon? I think I'm going to tell Hotch today, about the baby." His eyebrows raised as he slides on his jacket.
"Sounds fun... Are you going to tell everyone else? Emily knows, right? Did she tell anyone?" He slides on his shoes and grabs his car key from the bedside table, then nods at me to follow him.
"Emily knows, no one else. I don't think they need to for a while." I want to tell the team, but telling the team also meant telling Spencer, and I just can't.
"I don't see the harm in telling them, Mar, if anything you should because then they'll know why you're being more careful." He opens my car door for me.
"I know, I just don't know how they're going to react, it kind of stresses me out." Eli holds my mug while I get my seatbelt on.
"You're worried about how they're going to react, or how Spencer's going to react?" I take my mug back, warning my hands.
"Both... Don't you want to enjoy it a little longer? Our little secret." I hold his hand, gently squeezing.
"Fine, but you're not going to be able to hide it for long, you know that." I keep quiet on the way to work. Eli hums along to the radio which makes me smile. I need to tell Spencer alone, I have no idea how he's going to handle it.
I scan my badge, granting up access into the parking lot. I grab my things and put my mug in the cup holder.
"Have a good day, I'll let you know about the windows." He leans over and gently kisses me.
"Okay, I'll see you later." I smile back at him before getting out of the car, scanning my badge again, and walking into the building. The elevator ride is short and uneventful, I walk through the glass doors to empty desks. Except the one in front of mine, Spencer. He looks up and smiled.
"Since when do you show up early? I can't remember the last time you got here on time." I drop my things on my desk and sit.
"Actually... I want to talk to you. Do you want to get coffee with me later?" His smile widens, and my heart breaks knowing he takes it the wrong way.
"I'll never say no to coffee with you." His smile doesn't wipe off his face, even when he returns his attention back to his book, it doesn't disappear.
