After Spencer and I talked he went to take a nap in the guest room. I didn't want to send him back to the apartment, but I also wasn't going to jump back into his arms.
"Homework?" I ask Marshall as he walks into the living room and sits next to me on the couch.
"Done... Is Spencer okay?" I shut my book to fully give him my attention.
"He will be. I think he's just stressed about a few things." I say honestly.
"Hm. Do you think he'll come back to live with us?" I love that Marshall cares about Spencer. The two of them actually spend time together which makes my heart melt.
"That's the plan." I smile at him.
"Hey." I look up at Spencer walking towards us. He looks terrible, I don't even know if he ended up sleeping.
"Hey." I go to the kitchen and put a K-cup in the Keurig for him. He leans against the counter and watches me.
"Did you sleep at all?" I pour a Spencer amount of sugar into the coffee and hand it to him.
"Thanks. I didn't, but I feel okay." I want to lay down next to him and see if that helps him, but I still want to keep my distance.
"We have a lot to figure out, but I can wait for you to come back from the dead." He smiles at me.
"How's the baby?" He asks, almost making me laugh.
"He's good, the doctor says everything is looking good." He looks confused.
"He?"
"Oh, I just started called the baby he, I don't know why. I shrug and go back into the living room to sit next to Marshall.
"So you think we're having a boy?" He sits with us.
"I mean, I have no idea. I'm just guessing. Marshall wants a boy anyway." He smiles at me.
-I sit on my bed doing some work on my laptop. I hear a soft knock on the door.
"Come in." I continue staring at the screen.
"Is now a good time to talk?" I look up at Spencer and nod. He shuts the door behind him and sits on the bed with me. I shut my laptop and set it on one of the side tables.
"I'm still mad at you, I hope you know that." He nods.
"It's unfair to me, to us, that you just bailed when you didn't feel needed. I don't care whatever it is you're going through, you can't pull that shit. I'm dead serious, if you do that again we're done." I need him to know how real his actions are.
"I want you to know you can talk to me about stuff. I really don't know what it's like to use, but, as much as I hate to admit it, I used to drink a lot when I was younger. Especially in my freshman year of college. I felt dependent at times, so I kind of know how it feels." He sits quietly and listens.
"Anyway, Spencer, we're having a baby. I know that terrifies you, but I need to know that I can count on you. If you aren't going to stick around I need to know that now." He gently takes my hand.
