Spencer and I split up once we're home. I stay in the living room on the couch and he's somewhere upstairs. I feel horrible. He's struggling and I haven't done anything to help him. I should have done more, I should be there for him instead just assuming he's been getting help.
We stay separate for the majority of the day until I went to bed. I go into our bedroom where Spencer's dead asleep. I shower, then join him in bed. Once I lay down he scoots closer to me so he's pressed against my back. I fall asleep feeling his soft hair on my neck.
—The elevator dings as we reach our floor. It's been a fairly silent morning for Spencer and I. I didn't want to do anything to set him off, and I guess he didn't have much to say.
"Rosie!" Morgan catches my attention. I smile at him, stopping and waiting for him to catch up as Spencer continues on without me.
"Hotch wanted me to give you this." He holds his coffee mug in one hand and an envelope in the other.
"What is it?" He shrugs.
"No idea." He hands me the envelope, pats my arm then walks away. I open it and glance up to his office, I see him looking at me from his chair.
I slide out a lined piece of paper, a hand written letter. What the hell?
"Mar, you don't ever write back." Is all I read before I tear up the note and toss it into a trash can.
Another letter from my brother, why would Hotch have it?
I meet Spencer at his desk, he's in the same position as when I last saw him. I come up behind him, and gently grip his shoulders. He opens his eyes and looks up at me.
"Hey you." My phone starts ringing, I glance at the screen, it's my mom. I ignore it.
"You aren't going to get that?"
"No I-" It starts ringing again, this time it's my brother. I ignore it.
"They probably just want to check in. I don't know why they'd-" Once again Anthony calls again, this time I decide to answer.
"Hey, what's up?" I lean on Spencer's desk.
"Hey... I need to talk to you." His tone isn't his usual upbeat voice, he sounds as if he's already trying to calm me down.
"Everything okay?" I glance down at Spencer who looks intrigued, then I walk into the empty briefing room.
"It's Adam." My heart speeds up.
"Adam? What's wrong?" I try to keep calm, though I prepare myself for the worst.
"He was injured in the field, he fell into a coma for a few days, he just woke up not too long ago."
"What the hell? Why are you just telling me now?" I don't know what I'm supposed to do with this information.
"I'm sorry, I just didn't want you to worry. Look, you really should be here."
"I can see if I can fly out this weekend." I look over at Spencer who pretends as though he hasn't been watching.
"Marina, he has amnesia. His doctor can't say whether or not his memory will come back. He keeps asking for you." I sigh, not knowing what I'm supposed to do.
"What am I supposed to do? I'm going to fly out to see him, and then what?"
"I don't know, but I do know you're the one he needs right now, and if this happened to you he'd go to you in a heartbeat." Fucking Anthony loves to tug on my heart strings.
"Fuck, okay fine, can you pick me up from the airport?"
-
I go straight to Hotch's office. His door is already open so I don't bother knocking.
"Sir, I have a family emergency, I have to leave." He sits up in his chair.
"Of course," He stands up. "Keep me updated, and let me know if there's anything I can do." I smile at him.
"Thank you, I will." I rush to my desk and pack up my things.
"What's going on? Where are you going?" Spencer stands up as he tries to figure me out.
"I have to go home, there's an emergency." He starts organizing his things.
"An emergency? I'm coming with you. Is there something wrong with the house?" I pause for a moment.
"I'm not going to our home, I'm going home to California." I continue and he stops.
"Why?" I slide a few files into my bag and swing it over my shoulder.
"There's some stuff going on, I'll try and explain later."
"I should still come." I push my chair in and walk over to him.
"Trust me, you don't want to. I'm going to see my ex-boyfriend." He looks confused and again, angry.
"Why are you going to see him?" I start walking out of the bullpen, Spencer follows close behind.
"He's injured and he's asking for me." I click the elevator button lighting it up.
"So just like that you go to be with him?" I roll my eyes.
"Really? It's not like I'm just going for a fun visit." The elevator doors open. I walk in, and to my surprise so does he.
"Well then why are you going?" He tightly crosses his arms.
"I'm going to be with him and my family. Spencer, he has amnesia, and he's asking for me so I'm going to be there for him. I know you'd do the same in for Maeve." He looks disgusted I brought her up.
"Why the hell would you bring her into this?" The elevator dings, and opens to the lobby. We both step out and head to our car.
"Can you drop me off at home? I don't want to leave you here without a car." He nods.
-We arrive at our house and I quickly begin packing.
"How long are you going to be gone?" Spencer pulls out my suitcase from under our bed and opens it.
"I really don't know. Probably just a couple days?" I try my best to plan outfits while hoping I'm forgetting anything.
"Why did you never tell me about Adam?" I start folding clothes and organizing my suitcase.
"I have told you about him." Spencer sits on the bed watching.
"No, you haven't."
"I know I have, he and I were together when I met you. I know for a fact I've talked about him, you probably weren't listening." I walk into the bathroom and start packing my toiletries.
"If I take you to the airport will you tell me a bit about him?" I scoff at his deal.
"Yes, fine."
