After Chris's funeral Marshall and I fly home. When we get back to the house Spencer's car and some of his things are gone. I've already tried calling him, but he doesn't bother to answer.
"I thought Spencer would be here when we got back." Marshall unzips his backpack and hands me his dirty clothes to wash with mine.
"No, sorry, he has stuff to take care of. I'm not completely sure when he'll be back." Marshall knows I go back to work tomorrow, and I honestly hope to see Spencer there. The other night got out of hand, I don't know why he escalated things the way he did, though maybe it was my fault.
"Do you have homework to catch up on?" I read my unread text messages.
"No, I finished on the plane." Adam texted me. My mom invited him to the funeral, and honestly it was nice having him there.
If I didn't have Marshall with me I would check Spencer's apartment. I know something's going on with him, and usually I wouldn't just let him leave like he did.
"I'll be right back, I'm just gonna get the mail." I grab the mail key and leave the house.
I unlock mailbox and call Spencer. I pull out the three days of mail, then lock it, and listen to his voicemail.
"Babe, please call me back. I don't want a break, okay? Please just come home and talk to me." I sigh and hang up. It's weird having him mad at me, it's usually the other way around.
I go back inside and drop the mail on the dining room table to sort it. Most of it is junk, but one is a letter from Chris, forwarded from the office.
His last one. I leave it on the table and throw away the junk mail.
I call Aaron, if he's able to watch Marshall, then I'm going to find Spencer.
"Hello?" I can hear Jack talking loudly in the background.
"Hey, is this a bad time?" I assume he goes into his room because Jack's voice fades.
"Not at all, I'm just home. Do you need something?"
"Actually yes, are you okay if I drop Marshall off at your place for an hour or two? It's completely fine if not, I just need to take care of something." Marshall looks back at me after hearing his name.
"Yeah, of course, if you're coming now Jack and I just finished making dinner." I smile.
"We're about to leave, thanks so much, I'll see you soon."
I end the call.
"Do you want to hangout with Jack?"
-"Thank you, you are amazing." I briefly leave my hand on Aaron's upper arm.
"Stop, I have no problem hanging out with him. Can I ask where you're going?" I cross my arms.
"Spencer's apartment." He frowns at me.
"Well let me know if you need anything." He walks me back to my car.
"Are you okay? He holds his hand against my car door, blocking me from getting in.
"I know I look beat up. My uh, my brother died on Tuesday, and Spencer and I had this stupid fight and now I don't know where he is." Aaron is the one person I feel like I can be transparent with. He makes time to listen to me, and doesn't seem bothered by my problems.
