Chapter 20 ~ Until

RUI'S POV

I heard commotions when I entered the house. I just came from a one week conference in Singapore for the system upgrade of the company's software.

I saw everybody is gathered on the living room including Lolo seated on his wheelchair. Reileen is crying beside her mother and brother....what the-

"What the hell happened here?" everybody stiffened as they heard my voice. Reileen ran to Lolo and hug him as if she was afraid of my existence.

"Care to explain to me where did you get that bruise young man?" Louie stopped cleaning his bruise on the corner of his eyes. She looked at me blankly, the room kept quite as I wait for the boy to answer my question. He looked at his mother and bowed his head. I heard Reileen's soft gasp.

" I punched my classmate. He punched me back." he answered softly.

" Care to explain why did you do that?"

" He badmouthed Mommy."

I crossed my arms and raised my voice. This kid needs discipline.

"Is it enough reason for you to pick a fight just because someone badmouthed your mother?"

"Ofcourse I have to defend Mommy." he answered with full of conviction.

" Listen young man, kung pinalaki ka ng Nanay mong basagulero, ibahin mo ako. Dont ever pick a fight with that shallow reason of yours again, or you will be grounded for a month without gadgets!"

I saw him clenched his fist. Louie held his hand as if reassuring him. Throughout the conversation, I never saw her reaction beacuse I was facing her back. I bet it was murderous. I smirk with the thought.

"Did you hear me Theon Railey?" I was answered by a deafening silence. Even the people around have weird expressions. Lolo is quite too, which is quite unusual by the way.

" I dont what to repeat my question again Theon Railey!!!"
The boy is being stubborn like her mother. Manang mana sa pinagmanahan.

" I heard you po, but I chose to ignore you this time." I clenched my fist, how can he answer me back???

"Such a bad manner you have!"

Kasing haba ng sungay ng Nanay nya ang sungay ng batang to!

"Am I the only one who got bad manners? How about you Sir? Isn't it also a bad manner if you are not keeping your promise?" Promise? Napapikit ako ng mariin, is this about me not attending the family day that I promisee him about? I actually forgot. Shit!

"You dont have the right to question me back young man!"

"Then you also dont have the right to question me on how I will protect my mother Sir. I've been doing it myself since my own father cant." He uttered those words straight to my face without blinking. An Ortega he is! Walang modong bata! Ito ba ang klase ng pagpapalaki ni Louie sa kanila?

" I want to sleep now, love. Sorry po Lolo if I disrespect your grandson." with that, he went upstairs with Reileen on his side. The little girl didn't bother to look back as well. Lolo was quiet the whole time as well as Louie. Why are these kids being rebelious now?

Isa-isang umalis sa sala ang mga kasambahay. Hindi ko mapigilang pagsabihan si Louie, siya ang kasama ng mga bata, siya dapat ang dumidisiplina.

" Yang mga anak mo Louie pagsabihan mo, lumalaking masama ang ugali." Pagpapaalala jo sa kanya.

Tumayo si Louie at humarap kay Lolo.

" Sorry po Lolo sa inasal ni Rai, he was rude I know pero protective lang po siya masyado sa akin at sa kapatid niya. Perks of growing up without a father, its my fault po."

I clenched my jaws, pinaparinggan ba ako ng babaeng to?

" Are you saying na kasalanan ko na naging basagulero at bastos yang anak mo?"

" Don't you ever call my son names, wala kang karapatan!" balik nya ng may pagpipigil,maybe because Lolo was there.

" Sorry to blow your bubble but I have all the rights because they are Ortega now."

" Ortega lang sila pero hindi mo pa din sila anak!" She hissed. Siya pa talaga ang may ganang magalit.

" Are you testing my patience here because if you do--

" Don't flatter yourself Mr Ortega, I will not waste my time bothering about you." She said it to my face without blinking, parehong-pareho sila ng anak niyang lalaki!

" Sorry po ulit Lolo, aakyatin ko lang po ang mga bata." I clenched my fist, gigil na gigil na ako sa babaeng to. Isang walk out pa at mahahanap mo na talaga ang katapat mo Louie.

I faced Lolo with that angry expression. He was calm while gazing Louie.

" See how rude that lady is Lolo, kaya lumaking may sungay ang mga anak niya kasi ang talim din ng sungay niya." Lolo just shrugged. I worry about his calmness, this is not so him.

" Until now, you cant really accept them as yours? Maybe I was wrong, hindi mo nga anak ang kambal because if you do, you could have atleast make them feel a bit of compassion."

" Right from the start, you know I loathe the mother, you cant expect me to love her children who ruined my life." Siya ang may kasalanan ng lahat ng to. Kung hindi niya ako pinilit na ibigay ang apelyido ko sa anak ng babaeng yon, walang ganitong problema.

" You are a hopeless case Rui. How could you not love those wonderful children? Someday...someday I hope you will not regret your actions."

" I only regret one thing in my life Lolo, and that is when I met Louie and make her pregnant." I dont care if that statement is rude. This is how I feel right now.

" Lolo pogi, rest time na po."

I was dumbfounded with Reileen's sudden appearance. Did she heard what I've said?

I watched her as she motion Lolo's wheelchair. She refuse to meet my gaze. Hindi niya ako pinansin.

My little girl ignored me bigtime. Just like her Mom, she walked out on me without saying anything.
