(A/N: I'm going to update a chapter a day from now on, even if it means holding off on posting a chapter.)
-Sapphire's POV-
As we walked, I couldn't help but notice the way Carmen kept glaring at me. She also really seemed to keep her distance from me- if I started drifting towards her, she stepped away. Eventually, Amari simply stepped between us.
"Enough." She spoke firmly, and with enough authority to surprise me. Carmen and Aya, who had turned around to see what was going on, also looked surprised. However, we all managed to recover quickly. I was glad that Amari had stepped in, but I could still feel Carmen's glares burning through my skull like lasers.
I didn't get it. Why did she hate me so much? And her glares only seemed to get dirtier after Amari pushed her way between the two of us. I knew she was only trying to ease some of the tension by separating us slightly, but I had the feeling she had made it worse.
But still, I couldn't understand why Carmen hated me so much. Finally, I just decided to ask.
"Carmen? Why do you keep looking at me like that?" I asked it a bit indirectly. "Did I do something wrong?" She glanced at Amari before turning back to me.
"I'll tell you another time." Carmen replied shortly. Considering the fact that she had looked at Amari before looking back at me, I figured she didn't want Amari hearing- which was sad, considering Amari was her sister, and siblings should trust each other. Maybe it was something about Amari that had made her mad? Had I done something to Amari and didn't remember it? I just couldn't wrap my head around it. I would've asked Carmen for more information, but I figured now wasn't the best time to ask again. I would just have to wait.
