-Carmen's POV-
I looked down at the alien leader I had managed to strike down.  Sapphire, Amari, and Aya appeared at my sides, with the other astronauts gathering behind us.  The friendly aliens gathered around, too.  We formed a circle around the leader.

"So," Amari said, "should we kill it, or...?"

"I'm fine with killing it."  I replied.  I prepared to finish the alien off.  Then, one of the friendly aliens stepped forward and started speaking with the enemy alien.  It was impossible to understand what they were saying- they still spoke in that garbled language that nobody could comprehend.  I waited for them to finish speaking before I struck.  After they did finish, the friendly alien pointed at the enemy alien, held up a peace sign, then pointed at us.

"What?"  Sapphire asked blankly.

"I think it wants to make peace with us..."  Amari translated.

"Sounds about right."  I said.  The enemy alien nodded, and I sheathed my sword, leaving it on the ground.  Amari held out a hand to the darker, ex-enemy alien, who took it and let Amari help it up.  She had always been a bit too merciful for her own good- I could only hope that our decision to spare the alien wouldn't come back to haunt us later.  Though, I didn't know if we needed to worry about that.  If it tried to attack us, we could finish it off easily.

"Carmen?"  Amari's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah?"  I asked casually.

"Where do you think we should put it?"  Amari motioned to the alien.  "None of us know where it lives."

"Just let it go find its colony on its own."  I told her.  "It's nothing we need to worry about."  I turned and walked away from the group, and the others followed me.

"Hey guys, remember how I was homesick earlier?"  Sapphire asked with a grin.  We all nodded.  "Well, I don't have to be homesick anymore... because I think this is home now."  Aya, Amari, and I cheered in response to this, and Sapphire joined in.

Maybe this really was home, after all.
