-Carmen's POV-
I could hear it. The faint beeping sound that signified that my oxygen tanks were getting low. I only had one set of spares, but I couldn't even use them right now because, if I took my oxygen tanks off, I wouldn't be able to breathe.
"Hey Carmen, look!" Amari grabbed my arm and pointed at something. I followed her finger to see buildings. But they weren't just any buildings. They were white buildings, surrounded by an oxygen bubble. We had found another human camp.
I got ready to run, and Amari did too. When we started running, I noticed that I was becoming better at running, but I was also running out of oxygen faster. Just let these tanks last a little longer... I could hear two sets of beeping sounds now, meaning that Amari was running out, too. However, I noticed that she seemed to be using up oxygen quicker than me. She's not gonna make it all the way over there.
I slipped my arm out of Amari's grasp, grabbing her hand instead as we ran. If only I could have towed her along just a little faster, she might've made it. But that was when I heard the thud behind me. When I turned around, Amari had fallen to her hands and knees. I pulled her up off of the ground and into my arms, half-dragging and half-carrying her the rest of the way to the camp.
By the time we got there, I felt ready to collapse like Amari had, and Amari had fainted. I grabbed Amari's spare set first and re-equipped her with the new oxygen tanks. Since there was an oxygen bubble around us, it was fine to take off my own oxygen tanks and replace them too, so that was what I did. Now, I just had to wait for Amari to wake up.
