-Amari's POV-
We passed a couple more alien colonies. In some cases, the aliens would notice us and would act similarly to the first alien we had encountered. As we passed another colony, however, one of the aliens yelled something to all the others near it. Then, it pointed at us. Carmen and I exchanged a bewildered look as the aliens began to come towards us.
"Run." I told Carmen, shoving her away.
"No. We stick together, no matter what." She replied somewhat defiantly. I sighed.
"Fine then. But just don't get yourself eaten or something, alright?" I told her.
"I don't think they'll eat us, but okay. Same goes for you, though!" She replied.
"Got it." I said. "Not like I wanna get eaten or whatever anyways." Carmen rolled my eyes, but she was also smiling. As the aliens approached closer, Carmen started focusing on something. Suddenly, she grabbed my hand and made a dash for a gap in the group of aliens, both of us running through it, though not unscathed- the aliens had swatted at us when we had made a break for it.
"Are you okay?" She asked, having to yell to be heard due to my helmet and our footsteps. Carmen was stumbling a bit still, though I had adjusted quickly to Mars's gravity, so I could run perfectly fine.
"Yeah, you?" I questioned. She nodded. "Good." I sighed in relief. Carmen smiled. It was weird how we both worried about each other over even the smallest things. And when one of us fell, the other was always there to help, just like I was there to help Carmen steady herself when she tripped and almost fell on the red ground.
As I looked over my shoulder, I realized that some of the aliens were fighting amongst themselves.
