-Amari's POV-
I watched as Aya and Sapphire turned and walked away.  I hoped they would be okay.  There were a lot of aliens around here, they could get hurt!  I glanced at Carmen, looking for any sign that I wasn't the only one worried about them.  However, her expression was unreadable.  Please, please, please let them be okay...

I wasn't exactly sure why I cared so much about their well-being.  We had practically just met them, but already I felt like they were at least friends.  But somehow, I knew Carmen didn't feel that way- at least, not for Sapphire.  I sighed, turning back to see their silhouettes disappear, merging into the blackened sky.

"I can't believe they've already built it up so much."  Carmen breathed, changing the subject of my thoughts.  "How long have we been gone?"

"I don't know, the time is different here than on Earth.  My watch is useless."  I informed her.  "But, if I had to take a guess, I would say at least a few hours."

"What do you mean, time is different?"  She inquired.

"Well, a day lasts longer on Mars than on Earth.  On Earth, a day is 24 hours.  On Mars, a day is supposedly 24 hours and 40 minutes."  I explained.

"That's weird.  I wonder why."  Carmen seemed to be mulling this over.

"Maybe because Earth and Mars aren't the same distance from the sun?"  I guessed.  "Or maybe Mars spins slower than Earth does?"

"What would the distance from the sun have to do with anything?  Isn't that more for years than for days?"  Carmen pointed out.

"Well, if Mars is closer to the sun, then it wouldn't take as long for sunlight to reach Mars's atmosphere, so the day would be longer, and the night would be shorter."  I elaborated.

"True... well, we can think more about that later.  Right now, we should probably find Mom and Dad and get settled in."  Carmen suggested.  Once again, I agreed with her.
