-Aya's POV-
I ran into Sapphire again after a moment of fighting my way through the crowd. I noticed something red streaked across the back of her hand, dried to her skin as she fought off yet another alien.
"Hey, what's that on your hand?" I asked as I joined in the mini-battle between Sapphire and the alien. There was a sort of energy to her movements that seemed to keep her empowered enough to fight. She glanced at me before casting a swift glance down at her hand.
"Oh, that," She said as she looked back at the alien. "Blood. But don't worry, I'm alright now!" She added quickly.
"Good. Heads up!" I jumped in front of her, stopping a blow that the alien would have undoubtedly landed on Sapphire had I not blocked it. Sapphire smiled appreciatively at me and landed her final blow before we moved on through the crowd.
After a while, Sapphire took off. I glanced over to see where she was going, only to realize Carmen was under attack, and she was a bit outnumbered. I started to go after her, but hesitated upon hearing a strange noise. It sounded halfway between a scream and a sob. Nobody else seemed to have noticed it in the heat of the fight, so I had to go check it out alone.
The noise had come from none other than Amari, who was awfully close to some of the aliens for being an archer. Then, I realized that her closeness wasn't voluntary. I charged at the aliens, striking one down before anyone even seemed to realize what exactly had happened. Amari dashed out of the circle of aliens using the opening I had created, and started shooting from afar like an archer should. It didn't take long after that for us to strike the others down.
"Hey," Amari said. "Is it just me, or are there a lot less enemy aliens now?" I surveyed the crowd for a moment, then smiled.
"It's not just you."
