(A/N: I will still have POVs for Sapphire and Aya, I just needed to go back to Amari for this chapter.)
-Amari's POV-
"Excuse me, have you seen-" I began, but I cut myself off when the astronaut turned around. Both Carmen and I found ourselves smiling as we threw our arms around him.
"Dad!" I cried happily, glad to be reunited with, at the very least, my father. Maybe Mom was somewhere around here, too.
"Where did you kids get off to?" Dad asked. He sounded only slightly worried, so we couldn't have been gone for too long.
"We went exploring." Carmen replied shortly. I couldn't help but notice that she had been getting more to the point since we had left.
"Yeah!" I confirmed. "There were alien colonies, and we also met some people from other camps!" I knew I sounded a lot younger than my age, babbling on like that. But at the same time, I didn't really care. It was Dad I was talking to, after all.
"Sounds like you had a lot more fun than we did. Your mom and I got to help set up the camp." Dad stated. "We got to spend about half an hour trying to run electricity through the houses. Eventually, we ahd to settle for solar panels until we could get some electricity currents running, so the lights might turn off when it turns night."
"How will we know when it turns night?" Carmen asked. "It's not like the sky ever really seems to change around here."
"The sun." I replied. Dad nodded and pointed at the sun.
"It's about noon right now, by the looks of it. We'll know that it's night when the sun goes down." He explained. I felt happy and relieved that I wasn't the only one in our family who knew a few things about Mars- not to mention the fact that we were with Dad again.
