-Amari's POV-
"Well, I should go.  We need to finish this."  Aya told me.  I nodded and watched as she headed back towards the crowd of aliens.  They almost looked like a field of very tall grass, swaying and getting tangled with each other.  The notion somehow made them seem less threatening.

I took aim and started picking our enemies off.  I had only been doing archery for a few months, but I had mastered my bow quickly.  The second I had laid hands on it, I just knew.  I knew where to aim, I knew what to do.  The first shot was a bit off the mark, but the second shot had been a bullseye.  I remembered the pride that I had felt back then and grinned.  I didn't know if it was some sort of talent that had just stayed hidden inside me, or if I actually had learned that quick.  But either way, I had gotten pretty good in the course of about 3 months.

I glanced away from my target for a moment, surveying the battlefield.  The enemy numbers had decreased drastically since we started.  There were only a few enemy aliens left.  I felt adrenaline rush through me.  It felt like when we ran the mile in P.E. on Earth, and I was on the final stretch.  That perseverance that kept me going always seemed to explode up within me on the final stretch, keeping me powered through to the end.

That same perseverance was sparking inside of me now, like fire in my blood.  We were going to get through this.  We could win.  We would win, we had to.  They were outnumbered.  This fight was practically in the bag at this point.  That was when Carmen struck down the last alien left- the leader.  Everyone gathered around.  We had won.
