Helping (Chapter 29)

-Amari's POV-
I rushed back inside, quickly grabbing the bow and quiver of arrows we had managed to save when we left Earth before running back out.  Because the camp had an oxygen bubble over it, I didn't have to put my spacesuit back on. 

"Amari, what are you doing?!"  Aya exclaimed.  I withdrew and arrow and aimed it at one of the darker aliens.

"Helping."  I replied as I let the arrow fly, nailing the alien in the head.  I smiled as I pulled out another arrow and aimed it, shooting into the crowd of aliens, praying that I wouldn't accidentally hit a friendly alien and aggravate it.

"I'll help, too!"  Carmen offered, heading back inside to grab whatever equipment she had managed to save.  When she came back out, she was holding a sword and two kitchen knives.  She handed the knives off to Sapphire and Aya, keeping the sword for herself.  "Feel free to jump in if you'd like, you two."

"I'm in."  Aya ran into the crowd of aliens and began her assault.  Sapphire and Carmen followed her lead.  I was slightly aware of the fact that I was the only archer, which meant I had a lot of weight on my shoulders to uphold.

After a while of fighting, I noticed a few more astronauts beginning to join the fray.  Carmen was talking to them through the fight, hopefully making sure they understood not to kill all of the aliens.  It was a reasonable assumption, knowing Carmen.

"Toss me a couple arrows, kid!"  One of the astronauts yelled.  It took me only a second to turn to the astronaut, realizing that he had been talking to me.  I pulled some arrows out of my quiver and passed them to the astronaut, who had a crossbow.  I didn't know if my arrows would work very well with his crossbow, but he didn't seem to mind.  I was no longer the only archer.  I took aim again.  Whatever happened next, we had the other astronauts at our side- we would definitely be ready.
