-Amari's POV-
I broke into a run towards the house. Mom would be waiting in there, and Carmen and I could introduce her to our new friends, too! I didn't doubt for a second that she would be glad that we had made some friends.
"Come on, come on, come on!" I urged the others, glancing over my shoulder to see how far away they all were. The three of them were also running, but not as fast as I was. I didn't get how everyone found running in this gravity to be so hard, but I still decided to wait for a moment so they could catch up. Once they did, however, I took off again.
Finally, I reached our house- at least, it would be our house until the Disease stopped spreading back on Earth. Then, we could go live on Earth again, in our real house. The thought made me homesick though, so I pushed it out of my mind and knocked on the door.
"Mom! We're home!" I yelled through the door.
"Come in, dears! The door's open!" Mom called back. I pulled on the door handle and the door swung open. I held the heavy door for the other three before stepping in myself and letting the door close behind me. Carmen and I both took off our spacesuits, leaving us in the normal clothes we had worn underneath. Aya and Sapphire both followed our lead, and were about halfway done taking their suits off when Mom walked in.
"Oh, hello. Sorry, I didn't realize we would be having guests." Mom sounded a bit flustered.
"Yeah! Carmen and I made two new friends! Dad said they can stay with us, their camps got destroyed." I lied. Only Aya's camp had gotten destroyed, but nobody needed to know that.
"Alright... please, come in." Mom welcomed us all inside.
