-Amari's POV-
When I opened my eyes, my vision was blurred, but I could definitely make out two figures hovering over me. After a moment, my vision cleared, and I recognized one of the figures as Carmen, though I still didn't know who the other girl was.
"You're sure she'll be okay?" Carmen was asking.
"Absolutely." The girl replied. "Look, she's waking up now!" They both turned their attention to me as I sat up.
"Carmen, who's that?" I murmured, deciding to direct the attention away from myself for a couple seconds.
"Oh! My name is Sapphire." Sapphire answered instead. "I live in this camp. When I saw you and your friend-"
"Sister." Carmen corrected.
"Right. When I saw you and your sister here, I figured I'd come see what was wrong." Sapphire explained. "Now stand up, the ground is dirty." She held out her hand, but Carmen nudged it aside. I took Carmen's hand and let her help me up instead.
"Thanks, both of you. But, I still don't get what happened to me." I stated.
"Um... Carmen, do you wanna explain, or should I?" Sapphire asked.
"I've got it." My sister replied. "So, we were trying to find our camp, and we found this one instead. We had to run, and our oxygen tanks were both low, so you fainted." She explained.
"Oh. Well, how didn't you pass out?" I asked.
"You had used more oxygen than me, because you were running more. And because your legs are shorter, you have to run more to keep up with me, so you were using it faster." Carmen replied.
"Oh." I didn't know how else to respond. After a moment, Sapphire decided to speak up.
"Well, do you guys want a tour around the camp? Or do you think you're good?" She offered. I turned to Carmen.
"I'm fine with a tour." I said. "You?"
"We aren't staying here. We don't need a tour." Carmen sounded rather harsh, but she didn't have a liking for most people. "Let's go, Amari."
