To start off, I have no idea why people started comparing the two in the first place.
They are nothing alike, and don't try to be.
But there is a huge abundance of "Why Harry Potter is better than Twilight" books.
Disclaimer: I have never read Twilight, and I am a fan of Harry Potter (who isn't), so this opinion could be accidentally biased toward Potter.
On Wattpad, I've seen a ton of Harry Potter fans who have jumped on a bandwagon of comparing Harry Potter and twilight.
But these books tend to be the most biased things I have EVER SEEN.
They will have a list of reasons, where most of them are,
"EDWARD IS A SPARKLING FAIRY PRINCESS!!!!!!!!1!1!1!!1"
"HARRY POTTER CHARACTERS HAVE COOLER NAMES AND ARE BETTER!!1!!1!!"
"I HATE STEPHANIE MEYER EW JK ROWLING IS BETTER!!!!!!!!1!1!1!1!"
"VOLDEMORT IS MORE SCARY IM AFRAID OF VOLDEMORT!!!!!!!!!!1!"
And so on.
To which all of the comments are along the lines of
"BURN"
"OMG SO TRUE"
"I HATE TWILIGHT!"
I'm not even joking, just look up "Harry Potter vs. Twilight" on the wattpad search bar.
I'm not use why we even need these books, if the only people reading them already only like Harry Potter in the first place.
Now, I wouldn't mind these books if they had opinions that were based in anything other than random opinions, but unfortunately, that's not the case for most of them.
One of their favorite reasons is also, "Edward is a pedophile!"
That's not even a reason to not like a book.
Here are some reasons to not like a book:
I read it, and didn't like it.
The writing is bad.
The plot doesn't make sense.
The author murdered my family, stole all of my goats, and left me in the ocean to die,
The story isn't compelling.
Not: "A character is a [negative character trait] and I don't like it!"
The authors of these books also behave ridiculously to actual Twilight fans.
Twilight fans may not have made very good choices in their lives, (this is the only pointless bashing of twilight fans there will be in this rant) but come on.
I've seen things like this in the beginning of these books,
"Okay, so if you're a Twilight fan, just don't read my book, ok? And don't leave comments about how Twilight is better, because it's so not. Also, the Potterheads will totally shut you down. Don't pointlessly be angry at Harry Potter if you're biased ugh."
'Don't be pointlessly angry at Harry Potter if you're biased.' Like you're so different,
Hypocrites.
To conclude, just stop comparing the two. They're nothing alike.
On a happier note, I hit 10,000 reads! Cool...
