I've noticed that extremely short chapters are becoming very popular in Wattpad.
In fact, if you look for fanfiction, you'll only get tiny chaptered books.
To me, it seems like these are just trying to get the highest number of reads possible by having a ton of chapters. There are two ways to do the tiny chapters. (It just autocorrected "the" to "hyena" Apple get it together)
Type 1. No action
Each chapter has to be about one sentence long.
It needs to be fake deep, and the plot never gets anywhere.
The description for your story should be a quote with no citation.
Example section:He looked over at me.
[chapter break]
"You're beautiful"
[chapter break]
I thought he was beautiful too.
[chapter break]
Author's note: OMG Thank you guys for 100,000 reads ily omg
End of example.
Do the authors realize they're only really getting reads because each chapter is spread into 50 parts? I don't know.
But honestly, this type of story isn't as bad as
Type 2. Text messages.
The story is told entirely in messages.
Even less action.
The story usually starts with some sort of miscommunication, like someone gives someone else a wrong number or there's a username that got messed up.
In these stories, I don't understand why the people keep talking to the other person, even after they aren't the one they wanted to talk to.Example section ( I am not creative with names.) :
A: is this C?
B: No, this is B.[chapter break]
B: whos C?
A: I guess he gave me the wrong number :/[chapter break]
*A sent a picture*
B: stop texting me
A: no[like 80 chapter breaks]
A: I love you
B: me 2End example.
Like these make no sense, and the two texters always somehow fall in love for no reason
Anyway, please make your books have plot and stuff.
It's not that hard.Farewell😘
