APPLICANT #34: REDEEMING SERENITY

It's raining pitchforks. The lightning strikes angrily.

I ran towards the secluded part of the dark street where the culprit dragged her. I watched in horror as the man stabbed her with a dagger on her chest as blood gushed out from it. She flinched as the man yanked the dagger out. She clutched her chest as she tried to speak even though she can't barely move.

"I-I... t-trusted you b-but, why did y-you do t-this to me?" her words came out as a soft whisper. Her body got flabby on the man's arms. He slowly laid her down on the ground. The man stood up and walked away as if nothing happened.

She died... again.

I cried.

I screwed up again. It's so painful seeing her die for the hundredth time but, I can't help her. I walked over her lifeless body and closed her open bloodshot eyes.

She was my Serenity.

The girl I've been eyeing for so long, the one I've secretly loved from afar. Due to my anxiety to keep her safe, I traveled through time to know her future.

I'm a Time Wizard.

I can manipulate and travel through time, visiting different ranges of time from past, present to future. The moment I went on Serenity's future, I saw how dreadful it was. I really wanted to help and save her but, I can't. I only appear as a Spirit as I travel through time. I'd seen her die alot of times and I can't stand it anymore. I remembered what Deborah- a powerful witch ruling our world said to me.

"Align the night and day to succeed"

I wiped my tears off and stood up full of determination. I need to do what Deborah advised me to do so.

I draw an hourglass symbol, after that; there appeared an hourglass on my right palm. I blew on it and then my surroundings started to spin. As it continues to spin, there appeared three hourglasses in front of me; the past, present and future. I held out my hand in front of the Present Hourglass then it stopped spinning. I was already on my present time after that.

Without wasting time, I went straight ahead to Mount Ertraco- one of the highest mountains in Hiperotargon-the place where I came from.

I got there fast using broomsticks. As I arrived, I immediately waved my hand thrice, freezing my surroundings. After that, I rode my broomstick to go above the clouds. There, I saw the blazing sun and a few feet away from it was the moon.

"Lier!" I casted a spell then strings went out of my fingers as I held my hands up high, encircling the two heavenly bodies. I pulled the strings to align the two. As I pulled the strings, I can feel my hands shaking as I pulled harder, carrying the weight of the two. I looked at my right hand and saw that the strings were covered in fire and making its way to my hand. I yelled as the fire made contact with my skin.

Burned.

"Serre!" I casted again and a strong force helped me pull the strings. I endured the pain I'm feeling. An illuminating light covered the place and I fell on my broomstick and down to the mountains. I looked up at the sky and saw that the moon's half is united to the sun's half as if they're one.

I made it!

I hurriedly traveled to the future. I found myself standing on the middle of a road. I heard a beeping sound and surprised to see a car in front of me.

"Hey! Move aside weirdo!" I heard the man yell from the car. I moved to the sideways to give him a way. Then, realization hit me.

I'm no longer a spirit

Without thinking twice, I ran towards the secluded street where Serenity died and there I saw the man, dragging Serenity into the dark part of the street. Anger fueled me so; I immediately charged towards him as I summoned my dagger.

"Poignard!" I immediately stabbed the man on his back but...

"Z-zeit? Wait, two Zeits?" I heard Serenity say. I coughed as I looked down on my stomach and a dagger was stabbed in there. I looked at the man and saw him smirking and a dagger was also stabbed on his sides. I looked up on his face and was startled to see myself.

"Who are you?" I asked the man.

"I am you, I am Zeit" I pulled the dagger out and so he did as well.

"You're a madman!" I summoned my sword and lunged at him and hit his stomach. I was surprised when he did the same. I put my hand over my stomach and healed my wound and he did too.

Wait...

Is he copying my attacks?

"I planned to kill Serenity 'cause she didn't love me back.

What?I didn't think that way.

We began battling. I slashed his arm and he got a deep wound. And so do I.

Now, I have a great plan.

I lunged at him and as expected he did the same too. And what surprised him the most is what I did.

I stabbed my chest and he did too with wide eyes, he can't believe for what I did. Future Zeit turned into dusts and flew with the wind.

"ZEIT! I LOVE YOU! DON"T DIE PLEASE!" I heard Serenity shouted as she ran towards my direction. I coughed and there was blood in it. She laid me in her arms. I felt my force draining as my eyes began to shut. Serenity cried as her tears fall on my chest and it began to glow.

"You're glowing, Zeit" my body begins to shake then glittery dusts exploded from my chest and when I looked at it, the wounds are gone.

I looked at Serenity then I hugged her tight.

"I love you too Serenity, you're safe now"
