his name?
i'll call him j.
now j, he wasn't your average high school kid—he wasn't an athletic jock with washboard abs, blonde hair, blue eyes, the work of god, etc.
he was short. a little round here and there. a little childish.
and to be honest, i thought he was stuck-up.
a stuck-up little brat, who had a million dollar house, was everyone's favorite; most people were jealous of him.
but me?
i wasn't jealous at all, i just disliked him.
i really did.
and i probably would've continued to dislike him for a while.
except i didn't.

"Okay everyone, please sit down," the teacher said, not noticing that everyone was already quiet and seated.
"Everyone did the summer homework assigned to them, right? Please pass the assignment up!" she ushered enthusiastically and everyone pulled their binders out of their backpacks, passing it up to their seatmate in front.
"On the board, I've put up the class suppl-" The door suddenly opened with so much force that it banged against the wall.
"Sorry I'm late," the person said, closing the door and handing their summer assignment to the teacher.
"Oh, it's alright, Mr. Jasp-"
"Is it alright if I take the seat behind her?" he asked, motioning to a short girl with dark hair, copying the notes from the board. Surprised, the teacher nodded, and he walked over to the empty seat, setting his things down.
"Excuse me," he whispered as she continued to write things down on a piece of lined paper.
"Yes...do you need something?" she asked, turning around and facing him. Seeing his face, she sucked in her breath, appalled. He definitely wasn't bad looking.
"Can I borrow a piece of paper so I can copy the stuff off the board?" A blush rose to her cheeks and she turned around to pull out a piece of paper, before passing it back to him.
"Thanks," he said, and turned away.
"What's your name?" she asked so quietly, it sounded as if she didn't speak.
"Jasper," he replied, not bothering to ask for hers. After all, it wasn't important.

the person i'm talking about...his name isn't actually jasper.
jasper is a placeholder name (it sounds cute too) for the actual person's name.
the girl's name will be mae (my name starts with m, and this is irl based, so the character's name will also start with m).
i hope you enjoyed this chapter!
