I watched as Tonya flirted with the man at the rental car place trying to get him to give us a discount. I rolled my eyes as she started to laugh falsely, the dude even had the nerve to start blushing he was a cutie just a little young for my taste. After a few more minutes of flirting she walked over to me shaking the keys in my face.
"Now that's how you do it. Now let's go find a hotel so I can get out these damn heels." Tonya said smiling.
"I don't even know why you wore heels on the plane anyway." I said looking at her.
"Because I need to look good at all times, plus these are what I like to call my 'fuck me' pumps, they make my ass look bigger that's how I got us moved to first class, and got us this bad ass rental for dirt cheap. So let's find a nice hotel so I can flirt and get us a nice suite." Tonya said laughing.
"Okay but first I need to go see Marsean at the hospital." I said knowing my older brother would kill me if I didn't come to see him as soon as I landed. We got in the BMW that Tonya rented and drove to OSU Medical center to see my brother. We pulled up and I noticed Tonya fixing herself up in the mirror. "Tonya it is not that serious." I said looking at her.
"Boy if you don't stop you know Marsean has been my future babies daddy since we were in fifth grade and he was in seventh. Besides I haven't seen him since we graduated, he has yet to see the new Tonya King." Tonya said.
"Whatever." I said leaving her standing there. I walked in the hospital and went to the counter. "Hi could you please page my brother Dr. Marsean Riley and tell him his brother is here to see him." I asked the nurse, the smile on her face told me she knew exactly who I talking about. I watched as she called his number.
"He'll be down in a minute, so if you want to have a seat over there he shouldn't be too long." She said smiling. Me and Tonya sat in the waiting room and I noticed Tonya starting to get nervous.
"Tonya seriously, it's just Marsean." I said looking at her.
"Marcus how is my breath." She said blowing her breath in my face.
"Here take this take it all." I said throwing here the whole pack of gum I had in my pocket. Tonya rolled her eyes and put a piece of gum in her mouth. The low chatter in the room became completely mute as he walked into the room, I tried not to smile as my brother walked into the sitting room. Marsean looked just like me except he had a full beard and was a lot more built, but everything else was almost identical. He saw me and start walking towards me only to be cut off my some 200lbs woman in booty shorts.
"Oh Dr. Riley are you here to see me?" She asked rubbing all over his chest.
"Ms. Robinson you know I'm not supposed to see you for another week. What's wrong?" Marsean asked her.
"Well I was feeling a bit feverish." She said smiling. Marsean put his hand on her forehead and frowned.
"Well you are a bit warm, I'll page Dr. Tuttle and see if he'll take you. Now if you excuse I have to go talk to my little brother." Marsean said side stepping the woman.
"Marcus...... Marcus I need to go change my panties. Your brother looks even better than I remembered." Tonya whispered in my ear.
"Marcus what's up little brother." Marsean said pulling me into a hug. Then he looked at Tonya and smiled. "Damn..... Tonya?" He asked looking Tonya up and down.
"Hey.....hey Mar..... Marsean." Tonya said nervously.
"Damn girl you grew up nicely." Marsean said nodding appreciatively.
"Yeah just pretend I'm not standing here." I said pushing Marsean's arm.
"Oh my bad Marcus, look I just got off so let's go get something to eat." Marsean said smiling. As we walked out the nurse smiled at Marsean.
"Goodnight Dr. Riley." She said sweetly.
"Goodnight April." He said smiling. As we walked out I saw a bunch of women watching Marsean leave sadness in their eyes. Hoes, I thought. We followed Marsean to the Olive Garden and sat down. I noticed how close Marsean sat to Tonya and smiled to myself, they did look cute together. "So Tonya I hear you're one of the best lawyers in Georgia." Marsean said smiling at her.
"I....... I'm okay." Tonya said nervously. That's pretty much how dinner went Marsean would say something and Tonya would blush and reply with one or two words it was like I was completely invisible.
"So I'll be getting dessert what about ya'll?" I asked rolling my eyes at them.
"Oh my bad Marcus, I didn't mean to leave you out the conversation." Marsean said winking at me. After that they tried to include me in the conversation. I had found out that Marsean's girlfriend had cheated on him so he left her and I could've sworn I heard Tonya call her a 'stupid bitch' under her breath. "So Mar' have you've sen him yet." Marsean said, I didn't know who he was talking about, but if the vein sticking out of his neck was any indication then there was only one person who could get Marsean this mad.
"Khalil? Khalil's here?" I asked my voice going up a few octaves.
"I guess, that's the rumor. But lucky for him I haven't seen him yet." Marsean said darkly.
"Oh my god Marsean what happened was like ten years ago do like Elsa and 'Let It Go'." I sang trying to get him to smile but Marsean didn't budge.
"Marcus you may have forgotten what he did to you but I haven't and when I see him I'll probably try to fight him again so it's best for everyone if you didn't go to the reunion." Marsean said.
"Sean seriously?" I asked getting pissed. This was the only thing I couldn't stand about Marsean I mean he's always been protective of me but when I came out it got a lot worse.
"So where are ya'll staying?" Marsean said changing the subject.
"Well once we leave here we're probably going to go and get a hotel room." Tonya said.
"Nah don't even wasted the money I got plenty of room, plus that gives us more time to catch up." Marsean said licking his lips.
"Can we Marcus?" Tonya asked.
"Yeah can ya'll Mar'?" Marsean asked. I closed my eyes and counted to ten.
"Yeah whatever." I said crossing my arms, Tonya and Marsean looked at each other and smiled. We got to Marsean's house and I was impressed, for a single bachelor Marsean had nice tasted the whole house was decorated with grey, black and red.
"Just pick a room and make yourselves at home. Here Tonya let me grab your bags." Marsean said grabbing Tonya's bags and walking into a room with Tonya following him. I sat down on the couch and turned on the t.v. the first thing I saw was a glimpse Khalil. They were doing a report about how he broke his leg and when he'd be back, I was waiting for them to show his picture again when the t.v. cut off. Marsean walked in and sat next to me. "Marcus I know how you felt about Khalil and how you still probably feel. But I remember how he ripped your heart out, I remember how long it took for you to be able move on and I'll never forgive him for breaking your heart. So you need to be really sure you're ready to face him at this reunion." Marsean said.
"Sean I'm good Khalil is the furthest thing from my mind honestly." I lied smoothly.
"Aight man goodnight little brother. Love you" Marsean said mushing my head.
"Love you too and that's not your room." I said as I watched Marsean try to sneak into the room Tonya just went into.
"Oh shyt you're right I forgot, night." Marsean said going into his room disappointed. I sat back on the couch and thought back to 2004 the day Khalil broke my heart........
