I walked into work completely nervous after Lorenzo told me that Javier was talking to someone at my job I didn't know who to trust, hell I didn't even know if I trusted Lorenzo's source which added to my anxiety. The whole day I sat at my desk nervous and suspicious of everyone who spoke to me and right before I left for my lunch break suspect number one walked out of his office Julius looked over at me and made his way to my desk. He got to the front of my desk and smiled at me and my heart rate increased, and not in a good way.
"Hello Marcus." He said smiling at me, my mouth was dry and I was having a hard time breathing. "Marcus are you alright?" Julius asked concerned. I had to get it together I couldn't let him know I what knew.
"I'm fine Mr. Banks just a little tired, I think I need some coffee." I said standing up.
"Please sit down I'll get it for you besides, I have a client coming in and I need my best assistant here to greet him." Julius said smiling as he walked away. I had to get out of here, this was all too much. I started to walk out the door and ran straight into Javier.
"Marcus I didn't know you worked here." He said smiling at me, at started to slowly back away and hit my desk. "Are you alright, you look like you've seen a ghost?" He asked.
"Why..... what are you doing here?" I asked.
"Well my cousin needs a lawyer and I don't trust the lawyers in Houston. I heard this place had some damn good lawyers and I guess the rumors were true. So why haven't you called me to set up a date yet?" He said walking closer to me.
"Maybe it's because he's in a relationship with me so I suggest you back up before I beat your ass again." Khalil said standing in the doorway, Javier turned and smiled at Khalil.
"Don't you have a job or something? I never see you working." Javier said and I guess that set Khalil off because he walked over to Javier and got in his face, I thought they were about to come to blows just as Julius walked in.
"What's going on in here, is there a problem?" He asked looking at Khalil and Javier, while neither one of them backed down. Khalil smiled and walked over to me.
"No problem I'm just here to take MY dude out for lunch, so excuse us." Khalil said putting his hand on my back and started walking with me out the room.
"Wait Marcus I need you here... look I know it's your lunch but I need you here for this meeting." Julius said looking at us as he walked pasted him.
"Mr. Banks I...... I can't help you with this one, there's a conflict of interest." I said looking at him.
"Conflict of interest what are you talking about Marcus?" He said looking at me.
"Your client's cousin is my ex, and you lose this case they can easily say Marcus tried to sabotage it. In my honest opinion I don't think Marcus shouldn't be anywhere near this case." Khalil said calmly. Julius looked at Javier with fire in his eyes.
"Mr. Avila you never informed me that one of my employees had ties to this case." Julius said looking at Javier. The stood there staring at each other and Khalil pulled me away leaving those to alone. We walked quickly to Khalil's car and I could tell by the look in Khalil's eyes he was pissed.
"Baby calm dow...." I started to say but Khalil cut me off.
"Marcus don't..... just let me think for a second." Khalil said starting the car, he didn't say anything as we sat in the car with the engine running. "Marcus I don't think you should work here anymore." Khalil said quietly, and I looked at him like he was crazy.
"Khalil are you serious?" I asked and the look on his face to the whole story. "You can't be serious." I said.
"Marcus I don't trust either one of them, didn't you say you wanted to go back to school now's the perfect opportunity." Khalil said.
