I couldn't describe how I was feeling because it was all too much, I found it hard to breathe and even harder to talk. She looked a lot better than the last time I saw her, in fact she looked great, my heart was beating a mile a minute I wanted to reach out and hug her or choke her I wasn't sure which though. Her smooth white skin looked clear and smooth just looking at her you would've never known she had done any drugs, but I knew better. I opened my mouth to speak but nothing came out the smile on her face soften a little and then she started laughing, why was she laughing?
"It's okay to be shocked Khalil, I know this is a lot to take in, hell you probably weren't expecting to see me." My mother said, I was still trying to find the right words to say when Marcus walked over after paying for his stuff.
"Khalil are you alright you?" Marcus asked standing next to me.
"So this is him the boy you were talking about in your interview? The love of your life the person you're going to spend the rest of your life with." She said quoting what I said in the interview. Marcus grabbed my hand and my nerves started to settle.
"Yeah this is Marcus, umm..... I should probably get going I ummm....... I gotta go." I said grabbing Marcus's hand and pulling him away.
"Khalil I really think we should talk." My mom called after us but I didn't stop hell we didn't stop walking until we reached Marcus's mothers house and were sitting on the porch. My heart was still pounding in my chest and my hands were still shaking. Marcus grabbed my face and made me look at him.
"I...... can't believe I saw her, Marcus I wasn't prepared for that." I said truthfully. "I've tried so hard to push her from my head and heart but I couldn't how can I love and hate someone so much?" I asked.
"Khalil you don't hate you mom, I know she hurt you but I can tell just by looking in your eyes that you love her. Maybe you should talk to her, it'll be good for you, it will be good for both of you. If you want I can go with you." Marcus said.
"No..... it's not like I don't want you there Marcus but this is something I have to handle myself but I don't even know how to get in touch with her. I ran out so fast an...." Before I could finish the front door busted open and Tonya came running out and threw up in the grass.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" Marcus asked looking at Tonya, as she wiped her mouth and tried to walk past us.
"She pregnant Marcus." I said quietly, Tonya looked at me and her eyes got big.
"AND YOU DIDN'T TELL ME!" Marcus yelled.
"I was going to tell you last night but you ran out of here before I could." Tonya said rolling her neck.
"Look we'll talk about that later though right now I have to talk to Khalil." Marcus said pissed.
"It's okay Mar' go talk to Tonya, I kinda want to be alone right now." I said taking my hand from him. I could tell that hurt him a little as he started to walk away I grabbed his hand again. "I love you never forget that" I said kissing him. Marcus reluctantly walked in the house with Tonya leaving me with my thoughts.
Later that day I was still thinking about my mother, Marcus was right if I was ever going to be able to move on with this part of my life then I would have to talk to her. After calling around I finally was able to gt her number, I told her to meet me at Olive Garden. I got there an hour early so I could at least prepare myself and even as she walked through the door I was still nervous. She walked over to the table and sat down smiling at me.
"I should be honest with you Khalil I wasn't expecting you to want to see me." She said still smiling at me. Once again I couldn't find my voice. "I guess you want to know what happened after the last time we saw each other. Well after our last talk I got serious about rehab and I made it all the way through, after I was finished they helped me find a job and I've been getting my life back together ever since." She said looking into my eyes.
