chapter 2: meeting new friends

(March 26, 1993)

The next morning I wake up to the sound of my alarm clock, at about 5:30am on Thursday. As I am getting up I head toward the restroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. After I do that I go back to my room to get dressed. Once I am through getting dressed I walk around the house to see if my mom has made it home yet. Since there is no sign of her I grab a donut from the kitchen, grab my things, and head to school.

As I am walking to school I cut through this alley a few blocks down from my house because it looked like a shortcut. As I am walking down the alley I hear a voice from behind say "hey kid come here real quick." When I turn around I see these three big ass dudes standing in the wall. As I begin to head toward them they ask me where I am headed, so I go ahead and tell them that I am on my way to school. After I say that the three boys gather around me, centering me between them.

While I am in the middle I struggle to get away because they have me by my backpack and as I am struggling a pitch black limo rolls down the alley way. Once the limo stopped the person on the inside rolls his window down and says "let him go" in a calm voice. Once they release my backpack he tells me to get in the car with him, so I open the door and get in with caution because I don't know what may happen next.

"So where you headed kid?" the man asked. After I tell him school in a light voice he tells his driver to drop me off. The ride to school was not long at all, once we got there I tell him thank you and get out of the limo. As I am walking to the front doors of the school he drives off so fast he leaves a puff of smoke behind. As I am walking through the doors I don't see anyone in the hall so I go ahead and head to my home room class.

As I am arriving to class the teacher instantly informs me that I am late as soon as I walk through the door, but since I am new she let me slide with a warning and tells me to take a seat. As I am making my way to a desk near the wall I go ahead and sit down next to this girl and put my head down on the desk as I wait for the bell to ring. After about twenty minutes pass the bell finally rings and I lift my head. As I begin to gather my thing I notice out of the corner of my eye that the girl next to me had forgot her book, so I run after her. "Say lil'mama... Say lil'mama... You left yo book!" I yell while trying to grab her attention.

Once she turns around I swear our eyes locked for a good minute as I was running toward her. "You forgot yo boo." I said one more time as I began to hand her the book. She then grabs the book and says thank you as she turns around and walks off. "L.J... LoJarvis come here?" someone screams from the other side of the hall. As I turn around I see J-Rock and walked toward him to see what he wanted. "I see ya homeboy! I see ya, but you better watch those wondering eyes because that's Nines girl and he's a Black Diamond!" after he said that I nodded my head ok and gave him dap as I headed to my next class.

As I am walking in my class I head to the back so that I could possibly get some chill because it was history class and I'm a wiz at that. While the teacher is at the front talking about who knows what, I couldn't stop thinking of that girl who left her book. The whole class period my mind was on her. That beautiful soft voice she had, those pretty eyes, that sexy smile, and that body I couldn't believe I didn't get her name. I guess I was to speechless because that was one of the finest females I have seen since I have been down here.

While I am thinking of her the bell rings for us to go to our next class, so I gather my things and walk out the room to look for my boys. As I am looking for them I see J-Rock by the door yelling my name to come with them, so I run down the hall to catch up. When I catch up with them they begin to walk to the abandoned portable in the back of the school. As we are walking in L.T closes the door from behind and once he locks it that's when the party got started! J-Rock reaches into his pocket and pulls out this fat blunt and lights it up.
