Chained By The Gang

chapter 15: on my own (1 year later)

(June 5, 1996)

"Damn where in the hell is my car keys?" I say while scrambling through my things. While I'm doing this B.D walks in my room and says "L.J I know you don't like celebrating your birthday, but your 18 now and I want to do something special for you." After he says that I tell him I'm happy and don't need anything extra, but since he insisted that he does something for me on my birthday I go ahead and go along with it. Since I'm going along with it I look at B.D and say "well I would like to have a place of my own... but not any place though I want to live in my old house." After I say that I find my keys and tell B.D I will see him later. As I am walking out the door B.D stops me and tells me he's going to see what he can do while giving me a hug and a pat on my back.

As I am getting in my car I call LaNisha and tell her that I am on my way. Once I arrive at her house I park the car in her driveway and get out. After I get out the car I walk to the front to ring the door bell. When I do that about two minutes later her mom answers the door and says "happy birthday LoJarvis... LaNisha is in her room." After she says that I tell her thank you and walk to the back. As I am walking to the back I open the door to LaNisha's room. When she sees me she tells me happy birthday, while running to me to give me a hug and a kiss. After she kisses me she closes the door behind me as I go sit on her bed.

While she is getting ready I watch television, "so what we gone do for yo birthday baby?" she asked me while she walks pass me slowly rubbing her hand across my face. After she asked that I think for a minute, but end up saying I don't know because I don't really like to celebrate my birthday. If you ask me it's just another regular old day. As soon she finishes getting dressed we go ahead and leave. As we are walking out the front door I say bye to her mother. When we get into my car I call J-Rock and tell him I'm on my way over there.

After driving around for a good ten minutes we finally arrive at J-Rock's house and I see LaTae's car out front. Once I stop my car LaNisha and I walk toward the backyard where they always are. As we are walking along the side of the house, we turn the corner and see J-Rock, LaTae, Tina, and NaTonya sitting down smoking and drinking having a good time. "What up... What up... What up?" I say to grab their attention. Once they realize it's me they all get up to greet me and wish me a happy birthday. After they greet me we all walk to the seats and sit down.

With my girl sitting on my lap caressing my head the guys and I are getting drunk and high as hell. While we are having a good time my cell phone rings and when I answer it B.D is on the other end telling me to come by the house in about twenty or thirty minutes. Once I hang up the phone I pass the blunt and drink the rest of my "40". After I drink the rest of my "40" I tell the crew what B.D said and ask them if they would like to come along with me and see what's going on. Once they say yes we all gather up into the cars and head over there.

On my way to the house we decide to stop at the corner store first to pick up some blacks and some more "40's". After we do that it's almost time for me to be at the old house, so I go ahead and drive over there. When we get to the house I see B.D's limo and a few other cars out front. Once I see that the driveway is fool LaTae and I park across the street. After I park the car I light me up a black while getting out the car. As I begin to walk up to the house, so many thoughts are running through my head. Once I come up to the door I take a deep breath and walk inside.

As I am opening the door I am in total shock. I really couldn't believe my eyes because everything looked so good. The floor was clean, the walls were painted, there were new windows, and the furniture was brand new. "So do you like it son?" B.D asked as he is walking toward me. At that point I was speechless for a moment, but when he approaches me all I good do is tell him how much I loved it. When I tell him I love it I give him a hug and thank him for everything he has done for me.

After I thank him for everything he grabs me by the neck and shows me around the house. Once he finishes showing me all the changes he has made, we all go to the din to chill. "Man B.D I can't believe you did all of this for me. I mean you fixed my house up and I really want to thank you for doing this for me!" After I thank him once more B.D hands me the keys and says "well son now you have two homes!" After he said that a warm feeling came across my heart and I couldn't help but smile and give him another hug.
