chapter 6: first day on the job

One month goes by and I am slowly getting use to my new life style without my mother. With B.D as my new guardian I feel I have no more worries as I am sleeping peacefully in my new home. While I am sleeping I hear the sound of my door being opened. As I begin to open my eyes B.D's maid looks at me and says "time to wake up sir; Mr. Diamond is waiting for you down stairs in the dining area." After she says that I get out of bed and clean myself up before heading down stairs.

As I am walking down the stairs into the dining room, I see B.D at the head of the table a long with his bodyguard. "Good morning L.J, grab a chair and get you some food in your system... I know you're hungry." As I begin to sit down his maid brings me a fool plate with bacon, eggs, grits, and biscuits. Since I haven't had a good home cooked meal in a good minute I ate slowly so it could last me a little longer.

While we are eating B.D begins to look at me, so I stop eating and look back at him. "So L.J are you and your crew ready to get down and dirty and put in some work and make some money of yells own?" after B.D says that right away I say yes with no hesitation. After I say yes he gets up from the table and says "great I'm going to show yall the ropes today."

As time begins to pass I'm just sitting in the game room watching television. As I'm watching television B.D comes in and tells me he ready while placing his hand on my shoulder and telling me to come with him. After I nod my head ok I put my shoes on and walk out to his limo. On our way to pick up my homies at J-Rock house B.D looks at me and says "Ok kid I'm going to need you and your friends to pay very close attention because the streets of Atlanta are nothing nice one mess up could take your life away! That at all time you will have to be on your p's and q's and don't let nobody and I mean nobody walk over you." Once he finished talking I begin to think about everything he has said, but my thoughts are soon interrupted as the limo pulls into J-Rocks driveway.

Once the limo came to a complete stop I go ahead and get out, so I could get my boys. After I ring the bell DeRay quickly answers. When he opens the door he looks at me and says "what's good play boy how you feeling?" while giving me dap. After he daps me up I respond "now you know I'm good homie... I'm a soldier for life you feel me? So is yall ready yet?" After I say that he nods his head yes and calls the other boys from the back. As they begin to walk out the door they all say what's up as J-Rock closes the door behind us.

As we are all getting in the limo everyone says what's up to B.D while the driver starts the engine and begins to roll street. We are all in complete silence as we wait for B.D to say something. As B.D begins to reach for the mini bar to grab himself a glass of wine he looks at each one of us and says "wouldn't yall love to live the glamorous life I live? Wouldn't yall love to be able to have anything and everything at your finger tips at all time? Well... I'm going to show you four young good looking determined boys how to get it because I see something in each and every one of you. Now look this life I live is a game a rough game at that and you are going to have to depend on each other to have your back in order to make it. First off I have one of the biggest and strongest gangs in Atlanta and it took a lot of hard work to get where I'm at now. Now I own one of the busiest streets in Atlanta and that street is crawling with money on every corner. People are scared to work this street because you never know what may happen. You really have to be about your shit to work this street, so that's why I'm putting you four here because I have faith in yall and I know for a fact yall will make me proud. But before you leave I want to say this don't let anybody distract you because one slip up can take your life away, so keep your peeled while you are making that money because you never know who's who!" After he said that the limo stops and B.D hands us a back pack and four 9mm guns for protection. On that note we grab our things and get out the car and head separate ways.

As we are walking off we hear the limo drive off from behind us and that's when reality sunk in and we were on our own and hopefully on our way to the top. As we are walking down the street we hear a mysterious voice down this alley, so we all walk over to see what this person wanted. Once we approach the man he looks us up and down and says "I need a dime sack." When he said that we were hardly paying attention because we were detracted by this man dirty, smelly clothes, and butter like teeth. "Hey... Hey did you hear what I said? I want a dime sack man come on now I need a fix!" After he says that we snap out of it and give the man what he wants. After that one sell everything else began to fall right into place and money was beginning to roll right on in.

At the end of the day around nine o'clock we decide to head in so that we could count our money and see how much we made. Once we arrive at J-Rock's house we sat down in the living room and began to count. While we are counting J's little sister Mesh walks in with eyes as big as golf balls. When she sees all the money we are counting she asked J-Rock where he got it from. That's when we pick our heads up and tell her to be quite before his mom wakes up. While we are trying to shut her up she decides to make a deal with us and say "if I don't get none I'm telling mama!" When she says that all four of us gets nervous, so to keep her big mouth shut J-Rock tosses her a fifty as the rest of us go back to counting.

Once we are completely through counting we can't believe how much we made in just a few hours. All together we made $2500, but since we are dividing it four ways we all made $625 a piece! Once we realized how much we were getting paid we couldn't believe it, we thought we were rich as hell at that moment and time. When we finished splitting the money up J-Rock's mom walks in and tells us it's time for us to go home because she needs her rest. As soon as DeRay, LaTae, and I say by to J-Rock and his mom we walk out the door.

"So L.J what you gone do with yo half of the money?" L.T asked me as we are walking down the street. Now ever since I got this money placed in my hand I have been thinking and thinking on what I should do with the money, but nothing has came to mind yet, so I just shrug my shoulders and continue walking. As we are walking down the street we end up in front of LaNisha's house, so I tell my niggas I will holla at them later. Once I give them dap they walk away as I go to the back of the house to LaNisha's room to knock on the window. Once I reach the back window I can see her sleeping peacefully, so I knock on the window as gently as possible to wake her up. When she finally wakes up she looks around to see where the knock came from and that's when she sees me, so she smiles and opens the window.

When she opens the window smiling from ear to ear I lean in to give her a kiss because I haven't heard from her or seen her all day. After we kiss she helps me climb through the window so I wouldn't fall and wake up her mom. Once I am in I give her a hug and another kiss. When we finish kissing I tell her I have a little something for her. When she asked what is it I reach into my pocket and pull out $200 and tell her to get whatever she want. As soon as she sees how much I gave her she doesn't even ask questions because she already knows where I got it from. "Look baby I really do thank you for the money and everything, but since I know how rough this life style is you gone have to promise me you won't let this gang come between us and that you will always come back to me..." When she said that I grab her hands and look in to her eyes and say "baby nothing and I mean nothing can come between us and I will always come back to you no matter what!" After I give her my word we go ahead and lie down in the bed together and go to sleep.
