chapter 41: court hearing

As I am waking up for my court hearing I am praying to God the judge takes it easy on me. When LaTae and DeRay went they got two years and personally I don't feel like spending that much time in there. While I am getting dressed my girl comes in the room gives me a kiss and tells me it's time to go, so we get the kids and head out the door. On our way to the court house my girl begins to cry. When I ask her what's wrong and she say "what if you don't come back to me?"After she says that we pull into the parking lot. When I stop the car I give her a kiss and let her know that no one can take me away from her. After I tell her that I grab the kids and walk inside.

When we get in the court room I see almost the whole Diamond Boy clique. After sitting there for a good twenty-five minutes the judge finally comes out and tells me to rise. When I stand to my feet the judge looks at me with anger in his eyes and says "LoJarvis Willson you have been accused of possession of drugs, assault to an officer, resist of arrest, and five killings within the past two years. Since we were not able to pin you to the murders the jury of your peers deiced on two years in the Whitehead Correctional Institute.

After he gave me my sentence I was speechless as the guard walks his way up to me to take me away. As he puts the handcuffs on me I can hear LaNisha crying in the background, so I ask the judge if I could say bye to my wife and kids. When he says yes I give my boys a kiss and tell them to be good while daddy goes away for awhile. Then I give my girl a kiss and tell her not to worry because I will be out before she knows it.

Once everything is said and done they handcuff me and take me off to jail. Before we head out to the institute they give me an orange jump with the numbers 69832 on the back. Once the strip me down and inspect my whole body they take my mug shot and put me in a truck along with twenty other people. The ride up there was long and quiet, I felt as if I were on death row.

When we finally arrive at Whitehead after an hour they take us out and tell us to line up along a grey wall. Once we are all lined up the warden Mr. Donalds stands in front of us. Now for whoever doesn't know Mr. Donalds is a big black man who runs this whole prison, and trust me care about anyone but himself. While he is standing in front of us he stares at each and every one of us in the eyes trying to figure out what we are all about. "Listen up and listen up good I am Mr. Donalds the warden and ruler over this entire prison. This is my home and my life and so far I haven't had any problems and I don't plan on having any either. If you think you are going to come here and run something think again. I have a little over 500 inmates and yall don't run me I run you!"

Once he is through talking we go through a routine cavity search before being sent to our cells. As I am being escorted to my cell I hear a few whispers, but I pay no mind to them. When I arrive to my station which is on D-Block, I see DeRay and L.T. Once the guard puts me in my cell and removes the hand cuffs I go say what's up to my niggas. After we greet one another LaTae tells me that Mesha's boyfriend Darrean is in here and want to fight me. All I do is shake my head and say "well it's whatever on mine so I don't care!"

After I say that Darrean and two of his homies walk up behind me and says "oh really my nigga... we will see about that pimpin'!" Then he looks me up and down and proceeds to walk off. Once five minutes go by the guard says we have two minutes until lock down, so we all get in our cells before they close them. As I am laying in my rock hard bed all I could do is think of LaNisha and my kids. "Damn I miss my family!" I say while pulling out a picture of them I hid in my shoe. Then as time gradually passes I slowly fall asleep with their picture in my hands.
