Steve's POV.
"You've been asleep Cap. For almost 70 years." The man said.
I couldn't believe my ears! I didn't want to believe it! It's impossible isn't it? Why wasn't I dead? I was out of breath from running and I could feel my heart pounding from the anxiety. I turned away from the man trying to put it all together. Then I thought of Peggy. I'd never see her again. She probably got married, had a family, moved on. She may be even dead.
"You gonna be okay?" The man asked.
I opened my mouth but nothing came out so I tried again "Y-yeah, yeah, it's just..." I couldn't put the way I felt right now into words. "I had a date."
I could tell the man didn't know what to say to that so I turned around and asked the first thing that came to my mind.
"Did we win?" The man looked at me uncertain then realization hit his face.
"Oh, you mean the war?" He asked. I nodded.
"Yes." he said bluntly I nodded in relief. "Good" I said. "You know Cap, the world still needs saving. It still needs that beacon of hope. You could still be that to them." "I don't know. It's a lot to take in right now." I answered "I know, you'll get used to it though in..." I interrupted him asking "You work for the SSR right?" "Well, sort of. The SSR became SHEILD a few years after the war, but she's basically the same thing. And I don't just work for SHIELD I'm the director. Director Fury." "Oh. Nice to meet you." I responded. So much has changed! It's like I'm in an alien world! How am I going to do this? I have no one. For the first time in my life I'm all alone and on my own. All of the sudden I was jerked out my thoughts. "Captain? Captain?" "Uh yeah, yeah?" The Director looked oddly at me but then went back to normal. "This is Agent Hill she will escort you to your new apartment." Just then a young woman stepped up and stood next to the Director . She was a tall woman with short, dark brown hair and brown eyes and was in some kind of blue futuristic suit. I nodded and we shook hands. "Ma'am." "Captain Rogers." Agent Hill answered. With that Director Fury continued "We had it reserved for you for when you when you woke up." I nodded. "You ready Captain?" Agent Hill asked
"Yeah. Yeah I am." We started walking to a car when The Director yelled to me. "We'll get in-touch with you in a day or so." I nodded. I thought to myself, Looks like Captain America is on another mission. Adjusting.
