"What do you think will happen after this summer?" She asked. Her voice was as calm as the waters they were watching. Her words soothingly moving with the turns of each syllable. Her eyes stayed fixed on the waters, knowing that if she looked at him her eyes would be as full of water as the lake.
"I think-" He stopped himself. Not knowing what was correct to say. Though, nothing was correct to say. But was saying nothing correct either. They weren't correct. Life wasn't correct, unless they were together. Even if they were anything but right together, life was right for them if they had each other. They didn't care if it wasn't correct in other peoples minds. They loved each other. And without each other, they would be more lost then they had ever been in the middle of nowhere. "I think I won't ever leave you."
"Shawn we are both going to college. Let alone in different states. No one approves of us anyways-" He cut her off right then before she could suck in another breath.
"Do you think I care if no one approves of us? No. So what if we are nothing alike. Different cliques. If I might have a bad reputation and you are 'too good for me'. I love you. They don't know about the I love you Y/N. They don't know about us doing everything together, falling in love, together," He pleaded for her silently to look at him. But she refused. She couldn't and wouldn't look at him. She could start crying. He always said he hated to see her cry. He knew she was going to cry at this moment. And he didn't care. He just wanted to see her. "Y/N please." She exhaled shakily and glanced at him. And as soon as he saw her in the emotional state her lips and her eyes showed, he could barely breathe. She wrapped her arms around his torso and hid her face into his neck. He felt his neck soak with her tears. He gently stroked her hair, whispering that they would be okay. "I will visit you every weekend I can find a ride Y/N. Every holiday I will see you even if your parents don't allow me. I am going to college Y/N. They will realize I am smarter and different than they think. They will except me someday. When I marry you, they will see what we have."
"If we get married."
"When." He tried not to show the hurt he had in his voice when she said if. He knew she was the one. She knew he was the one too. But she was scared. Terrified of what could happen. What could happen to her? What could happen to him? What could happen to them? "Y/N. I will love you forever okay?"
"I will love you forever too Shawn," She muttered. He smiled against her head and pulled away just enough to see her wet face glazed with tears.
"And no matter what happens. If I have to leave you physically we will manage. I will stay have your touch. On my heart. I will still have your touch. On my heart. And I will love you forever in my heart. I want you to know that okay?" He meant every word. And she knew it. She smiled.
"Oh my. I love you so much," She said before she kissed him. Their lips molded together. He snaked his arm around her waist. She laughed lightly against his lip. And he about fainted when he heard it.
"Come on lets have some fun," Shawn said with a smirk plastered on his devious face. They both stood. And stripped down to their bathing suits. He took her fragile hand in his. He was determined to be the protector of it. To protect her.
He stared into her eyes crisp with color. She looked down at their hands, her cheeks flushing. He smiled and kissed her cheek.
"Ready?" He whispered. She glanced up. All the worries about their future was suddenly halted. It was just them in this world. Together. Them against the world. And she was sure they could defeat it. She nodded.
"I swear if it is as freezing as it always is I am going to kil-" She started ranting, but then he swooped her off her legs into his carry and ran.
"Too late!" He yelled. She screamed hanging onto his chest when he sprang off the dock and they were soon engulfed in the water. She opened her eyes and saw him staring at her. She quickly sprang up from the water.
"Shawn!" She exclaimed. He burst from the water laughing. She slapped his shoulder which made him laugh even more. He always had such an amazing laugh. It was so brightening and delightful. It always made her smile. Even now. "I was not ready," She scoffed. He pulled her by her wrist and wrapped them around his waist line and leaned his head on my shoulder.
"Babe we are never ready for things. But that makes them more exciting right?" He asked quietly.
"Don't try to make a life lesson out of you dumping me in this cold water," She snickered.
"Everything is a life lesson Y/N."
"What did I learn exactly from that then?"
He smirked. "Be careful who you are standing on a dock with."
