The air was cool.

Wispy, quick but smooth and free at the same time.

It flowed like a river's water would.

I dug my hands into my pockets. Stretching my legs out from the cold bench. Digging my teeth into my bottom lip.

I glanced around.

Not that anything really changed.

The landscape was quiet for the most part. A few people walked every now and then, but I mostly was alone.

Alone was the last thing I wanted to be.

I wiped my eyes with my sweater sleeve. Blinking furiously, I locked my fingers with each other.

"Where is this bus?" I asked to myself in a squeak. I exhaled furious at myself for showing my broken state. Even if it isn't showing it to anyone.

"About ten minute," A voice said. I jumped. Practically out of my skin. I glanced back. Where a boy stood with a cocky grin and a trench coat.

"How long were you standing there?" I responded. He walked around the bench. I scooted to the far side and he sat down next to me. He leaned against the bench, sighing as he relaxed.

"Only a minute."

"Why are you here?" I sniffed. The man put his hand on the armrest and glanced around the scenery.

"Catching a bus. Duh," He smiled.

"Duh? What are you seven?"

"And a half." I rolled my eyes.

"Clever," I sighed. Then I looked away.

Shawns POV

"Why are you crying?" I asked. She was staring away from me. She cleared her throat. Not bothering to look at me.

"I'm not. Who are you?" She asked in a small tone.

"Bob."

"Wow." She sneered.

"Well. I can't tell the truth if you aren't," I replied. She glanced at me. Her eyebrows furrowed. Her eyes were a little puffy. Her cheeks hot and her lips swollen. Her hair was knotted in a ponytail. But she was nothing less than beautiful. "What's wrong?"

She laughed.

Bitterly.

But she laughed.

"I got into a fight," She chuckled and pulled her hair out of the messy ponytail it was tied in. She rolled the rubberband up onto her slender forearm.

"With who?" I asked. I crossed my ankles, banging my shoes against each other.

"Oh just a friend."

"Boyfriend?"

"Ha ha. Funny." She smiled when she said it though. I smiled too. Something about this girl, lured me in. She had something about her.

"Hey you smiled," I pointed out. Her smile faded after a second, along with mine. She bit her lip.

"Yeah," She muttered.

"So you are sad?" I tried to lead on.

So basically.

I was sitting on a bus stop bench talking to a girl I have never seen before well after midnight.

And she was crying.

That's why I had to.

Because even if I wasn't a miracle worker and this wasn't some magical fairy tale and the two of us would kiss right there and live happily ever after or anything.

She was crying.

And she was alone.

And you know you are really alone if you are having a breakdown on a bench in the middle of night.

I couldn't let someone just be alone. And figures, I needed a bus ride home too.

"My mom said never to talk to strangers," She mumbled softly.

"Okay so this looks bad. Its dark and we are alone. But I won't hurt you. Do I look like I would?" I tried to shed light.

But it was too late for light.

"The greatest looking people have the darkest souls. The darkest looking people have the brightest souls," She repiled.

She was smart. That was for sure.

Or maybe not even smart.

Wise.

She was so wise. Even if she wasn't book smart, her soul was wise.

"Okay. So tell me something-"

"y/n."

"Yes Y/N. By the way. I'm Shawn. But Y/N, why would I bother to sit here with you if I was trying to hurt you? If I was to kidnap you I would've. If I was here to take your heart and betray it I would've asked for your number. Then I would tell you to text me and never reply. If I was trying to get you to help me out with money I wouldn't because I don't ask strangers for cash. And if I was here to hook up or something stupid like that. I could try that of course. But give me a break I have more morals than that," I tried to joke.

She laughed lightly.

"Okay. I believe you."

"Really?"

"I have no one else to believe anymore." I looked at her when she said that. The sigh she blew out as she said it. Like she was so exhausted.

"So you have been sad?" I asked.

"The worst kind." She bit her lip.

"The worst kind?" I questioned.

"The worst kind of sadness is the one where you can smile everyday. But you know deep down you will never actually smile. Never actually be happy." She shut her eyes. And tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Y/N. I'm-"

The bus turned the corner.

"Okay I will make you a deal. If I pay for another bus ride. Instead of going home. I assume that is where you were going right?" She nodded. "So instead I know a great cafe on the north side of town that is 24 hours. Have a drink with me?"

She looked at the bus as it stopped. Then me.

"Come on. Just two new friends drinking coffee and talking early in the morning. It fits every cliche book ever."

She laughed and nodded. Then followed me onto the bus.

A/N

You don't even know how sorry I am.

I never have taken such a break.

But I am so busy with family and sports and stressed with drama and decisions and people hating me and my mind is such a mess I can't stop this sentence everyone!

But guys I hope you all enjoy it I did put a lot of work into it (lets say a lot of writers block work. Which is a lot so)

Have a good day :)
