It was dinner time and an awkward one. Kaninang hapon, Luke met Julie and her friends at the pool and they all played with him making him enjoy his day. And ngayon naman, Tito Ed invited them to have dinner dahil napasaya ang nag-iisang apo niya. And the most awkward thing is that Julie is right in front of me. I can't look straight at her. I can't even eat properly. Idagdag mo pang katabi ko si Liz and she's flirting with me as if we were just a new couple.
"So what are you kids up to?" tanong ni Tito Ed.
"We manage our own business po. We organize events for people." I heard Maqui said.
"Ah. Kayo yung nag-aayos ng parties ganun ba?"
"Opo." tango ni Julie. "We plan weddings, birthdays, company anniversaries and all other things."
"Birthdays?! I'm gonna be 5 soon! Mommy, can they plan my birthday?" sabi naman ni Luke.
"Papayag ba sila baby?" ani Ate Li.
"Please? Please?" makaawa ni Luke sa kanila.
"Matagal pa naman ang birthday mo apo. You just turned 4 last March diba?" pigil tawa namang sabi ni Tito Ed.
"Yes but I want to have another birthday, lolo." sabi naman ni Luke.
"Next year, apo. Promise." ani Tito Ed.
I watched Julie as Rob gives her food or tends to her every needs. Di ko maiwasang di magselos. Ako dapat yan eh. Ako lang dapat yan.
"How long have you been a couple?" Liz asked them.
"Sino?" Rob asked.
"Kayo. Ikaw and her." Liz replied pointing at Rob then at Julie. Nagkatinginan silang lahat at sabay-sabay na naghagalpakan.
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Shet ang funny!" bulalas ni Kenth as if we were all clowns.
"Why? What's funny? I was just asking them kung gaano na sila katagal."
"Hahaha. Girl, hindi naman kasi sila." ani Kenth.
"Huh?"
"Baka nililigawan pa lang niya Liz." Ate Li said.
"Nako hindi po." Julie replied.
"Sorry. We're cousins." Rob said. Napahinto kami at napatingin sa kanila.
"Cousins?" I asked.
"Yes. She's my baby cousin. Well, technically, magka-age lang kami but I'm older by 5 months. And also, siya pinakabunso sa aming magpipinsan so we all call her baby or bunso." Rob explained.
"Cousin..." I drift off. I saw Julie looking at me and I couldn't help but smile at her. "Cousin..."
"Yes, Elmo. They are cousins. Can't get over?" ani Maqui.
"Ha? Hindi. Nagulat lang talaga ako. Uhm... Iba kasi closeness nila eh."
"That's because we practically grew up together. Kung hindi nagmigrate sina Rob sa States before college, hindi naman kami maghihiwalay nito." Julie said.
"Anyway enough about that. May dessert pa. Kumain lang kayo." Tito Ed interrupted. "Elmo, bakit hindi mo sila imbitahan sa kasal niyo ni Liz? Since may planner naman na kayo, invite them na lang as guests."
