Moving Forward

Part 42

David Rossi's POV

Today, my granddaughter turns 1, so it's a big day. As Joy still feel tired often and a bit of pain, she's sleeping with her daughter. Meanwhile, I'm preparing the last things for Zoe's birthday.

I hear a knock on the door. I walk over to the door and I open it. It's JJ and Spencer with their kids. Hope is sleeping in her mother's arms, her head on her shoulder.

"Come on in!" I say to them.

They enter. Jaeden looks at me and asks me where are the toys.

"In the living room and Oliver must arrive soon!"

He smiles and runs to the living room.

"Do you need help JJ? With you daughter?"

"Yes, please."

She passes me her daughter and I hold her without waking her up.

"Can you keep holding her while Spencer and I go to pick the presents in the car?"

"Of course! I will watch Jaeden too!"

"Thank you very much," Spencer says.

I walk to the living room with Hope in my arms. Jaeden is playing with small cars.

"Dave! Dave!"

He shows me his cars and pushes it to make it go fast.

"Woah! This car is going really fast!"

"Fast! Fast!"

JJ and Spencer come back with the presents.

"Where do we leave them?" Spencer asks.

"In my bedroom, upstairs."

"Okay, thanks."

They go upstairs and then come back.

"Dave, could you pass me Hope. I have to wake her up because she's not supposed to sleep that much!" JJ says.

"No problem!"

I pass her Hope and I go back to the kitchen to finish everything and to clean a bit.

Someone knocks at the door. I open it and it's Penelope and her girlfriend Carolyn.

"Come on in! The presents can be left in my bedroom upstairs."

They walk upstairs, but before they say hi to JJ and Spencer. Jaeden didn't see them yet as Hope.

A few seconds later, Hotch and Emily arrive with Oliver. Oliver runs to the living room to play with Jaeden and Hope while his parents are going to my bedroom to leave the gift. As I finished preparing everything for Zoe's birthday, I go to the living room and I ask everyone what they want to drink even though Derek isn't there yet and that Joy and Zoe are stills sleeping.

"I'd take a beer for now," JJ says.

"Water," Spencer declares.

"Water too," Carolyn says.

"I'd drink a beer too," Penelope says.

"A beer too," Aaron says.

"Do you have orange juice?" Emily asks.

"Yes, but I do have alcohol-free wine."

"I'd take a glass of orange juice and maybe during dinner, I'll take a glass of alcohol-free wine!"

"Okay. At least it's not a waste of money! Will the kids drink juice? I have apple, grape and orange juice."

"Grape juice!" Oliver exclaims.
