Moving Forward

Part 56

Jennifer Jareau's POV

We all decided to leave at Spence's birthday, so we're going to camping today. I just woke up. I look beside me and Spence is still sleeping. I want to make him a surprise for his birthday. I slowly get out of the bed and I walk to the twins' bedroom. I enter and I gently wake them up.

"Hey, my loves. Wanna make a surprise for Daddy? Today, it's his birthday."

They nod. I hold them and I let them silently walk downstairs. We go in the kitchen and I start making breakfast.

"You know what would make him happy? You could make him a drawing. I'll get you some sheets and coloring pencils."

I go get some sheets and coloring pencils in their playroom which is obviously the living room! Then I set them in their chair and I give them the sheets and coloring pencils.

"Mommy's going to make some eggs and bacon for breakfast."

I start making the breakfast. Once the eggs and the bacon are cooked, I put some orange juice in a glass and some coffee in a cup.

"Do you want to wake Daddy up by tickling him?" I ask the kids.

They nod and I get them out of their chair.

"But wait a minute. I'll put your drawing in the tray and we will get upstairs together."

I take the kids' drawings and we slowly get upstairs. Once we're in front of our bedroom's door, I open it and make a sign to the kids that they can enter and tickle their father.

Once he's awoken, I start singing, walking to him with his breakfast.

"Happy birthday dear Spence! Happy birthday dear Spence! Happy birthday, happy birthday, happy birthday dear Spence!"

"Aww! Thank you!"

He kisses our twins, then me.

"Thank you very much!"

He looks at the tray and sees the two drawings.

"Are these two made by you?" Spence asks to Hope and Jaeden.

They nod. Spence looks at them closely and kisses the kids for the second time.

"It's not that I want to leave you alone, Spence. But if we want to leave the house before 9am and be at the camping site before 9pm, I have to make to kids eat and I have to eat too. Either you stay upstairs or you come downstairs to eat your breakfast; the choice is yours!"

I make a sign to the kids to follow me. We go downstairs and I set them in their chair. Then, I give them a bowl of cereals. Me, I eat an egg. As always, the kids pitch their food everywhere. But this time, Hope decides to pour her bowl over her head, so Jaeden, seeing her, does the same.

"C'mon..." I say, getting up to get a washcloth.

I clean them and I go upstairs with them to choose some clothes. We enter their bedroom and I pick clothes. After, I dress the twins. At the same time, I start packing the bags for the camping. Spence enters the room.

"Jennifer? What are you doing?"

"Packing the kids' stuff."

"The doctor told you to rest. You already did too much."

"But I don't want to forget anything!"

"We won't. What do the kids need?"

"Some clothes for three days and more because you know how much they love to get dirty."

"Okay. After?"

"Um... Some toys, their swimming suit, their hospital masks, a playpen for them to sleep and Hope's inhaler."

"Okay. I think everything's done for them. Hey, kids! Do you mind playing in your room while Mommy and Daddy finish packing the bags to go camping?"

They don't answer and continue to do what they were doing before. So we go to our bedroom.

"What else do we need?"

"Clothes, swimsuits," I declare, sitting on the corner of the bed.

"Okay. What else?"

"I need my bandages, sleeping bags, we need mosquito repellent, sunscreen and... Uh... I think that's all."

"I think we're ready," Spence exclaims, packing the bag.

He takes the bag and goes downstairs. I call the kids and they run to me. Though, I ask them to slow down to get downstairs. Spence puts the bag in the car. I buckle Jaeden in his car seat and Spence buckles Hope. Then I sit behind the steering wheel.

"Are you sure you wanna drive?"

"What I'm sure is that I don't want you to drive!" I joke.

Then we head to the BAU because we decided to only bring three cars. So as we already have an SUV with 7 seats, we're going to take this one and to borrow 2 others. We also decided to only bring three tents. Morgan brings one, Hotch brings one and Kate brings one. David and Joy bring food.

We arrive at the BAU and everyone's already there. Everyone take the time to wish a happy birthday to Spence.

Derek and Savannah decided to come with us. So they put their stuff in the car and take place on the backseat. In the second SUV, Hotch drives and there are Emily, Oliver, David, Joy, and Zoe. And in the third one, Kate's husband, Chris, drives and there are Kate, Meg, who's Kate's niece, Penelope, Carolyn, Desiree, and Lacey.

During our vacations, we decided to go to the waterpark and to the amusement park. Today, I thought we could do something special for Spence's birthday. We also planned to celebrate Oliver's third birthday which was two weeks ago and we will celebrate Emily's birthday on our last day of camping. And when we will get back home, we'll celebrate Hope's and Jaeden's third birthday which is in 6 days.

So here we go for our vacations!
