Moving Forward

Part 6

Joy Rossi's POV

My dad told me about that meeting with his friend Aaron, my future boss.

Days have passed, and today is the day I meet Aaron.

I asked my dad if I could bring Zoe with me because I don't want to let her with an unknown person, even if it's a babysitter. I don't want to let her with a babysitter. Not yet. My dad said it was okay.

He is supposed to drive me to the BAU. I dress up and take my breakfast while Zoe's still sleeping. I go to the kitchen to make my breakfast. But when I enter it, I see my dad.

"Good morning Sweetheart," he says to me.

"Good morning Dad."

"I made your breakfast."

"Thank you," I say, sitting at the table.

He brings me my breakfast and sits in front of me.

"You're not too stressed?"

"Just enough."

"Don't be stressed. You know Aaron! He's nice. You'll probably be in the team."

"Probably."

I feel really nervous. What if it doesn't work? What if he doesn't want me?

I get up and I run to the bathroom. I kneel in front of the toilet and I vomit.

"Is everything okay?" My dad asks.

"Yeah... I'm just stressed."

I sit and my dad gives me a glass of water.

"Just... Relax," he says.

He puts his hand in my hair like he was doing when I was younger and stressed.

"Will it be okay?"

"Yes. Thanks, dad."

I hear Zoe crying. I get up and I go to her room.

"It's okay, Honey."

I hold her and I rock her.

"It's okay. You're gonna have your milk soon. But now, you have to come with me."

I go to the entrance and I put Zoe in her seat. I set her on the back seat and I sit at her left with Zoe's bag. My dad drives us to the BAU.

Once we arrived, I take Zoe's seat with her bag.

"Good luck," he says, laying down a little kiss on my forehead.

"Thank you, Dad."

"See you later," he declares, entering the BAU.

I look at my watch: 9:28am. It remains me only 15 minutes. I enter the BAU and I lead to Aaron's office. I already know where it is.

I arrive in front of it and I knock on the door.

"Come in!"

I enter.

"Good morning Mrs... Uh..."

"Rossi, sir."

"Right. You can sit, I'll come back in a few minutes. I have to talk to the team," he declares, getting up.

"Of course," I respond, sitting on the chair in front of Aaron's desk.

Aaron leaves. I hold Zoe and I take the baby bottle that my dad prepared for Zoe. I give it to her.

Aaron's back.

"So, Mrs. Rossi..."

I try not to laugh.

"What?"

"I know you since I am little and you always called me Joy and I always called you Hotch. I just find it so awkward to call you 'sir' and to be called 'Mrs. Rossi'."

"If you prefer, I can call you Joy."

"Thank you."

"Okay. So Joy. You want to integrate the BAU, right?"

"Yes. It's just that I just moved and I'm looking for a job. As I studied to become a federal agent, I thought that..."

He looks in his file before declaring:

"I think you'll be an asset to the team. This job is yours."

"May I ask you something?"

"Of course."

"I'm ready to start working next week, but for the next months, can I bring Zoe with me and stay at the BAU during the investigations?"

"Sure. Just follow me."

"Can I let those things here?" I ask, pointing Zoe's bag and seat.

"Of course."

We get out of the office and I follow him. We arrive in front of a door. On it, it's written 'Penelope Garcia, FBI Technical Analyst'. Aaron knocks on the door. A girl, that I already saw, opens the door.

"Oh... Sir. What's wrong?"

"Here's Joy Rossi. I think you already know her. She'll..."

A little boy comes, running.

"Daddy! Daddy!"

Aaron leans to catch him.

"Hey, buddy! Are you having fun with Auntie Penelope?"

"Yeah!"

He puts him on the floor.

"Daddy needs to work. You need to stay with Auntie Penelope."

"Okay, Daddy!"

And he goes back in the office.

"So, as I was trying to say, Joy will stay in your office for a while. She'll bring Zoe at work. So she'll stay here with you. Is it okay?"

"Of course!"

"She starts next week."

"Okay. Nice to meet you again," she exclaims, doing her best smile.

She closes the door because Oliver was going to run outside again.

"The job is yours. See you next week."

"Thank you very much."
