Chapter 19

After reaching home Dev realised that he had not checked, nor answered Kriti's messages, so he logged in to check.

November Girl, "hey I am so sorry for not replying to your message, was caught up with work."

November Girl, "text me when you are free, will be waiting."

November Girl, "hey Dev, you there? Hope you are not upset with me for not responding to your dinner invite."

Dev immediately replied to her.

Dev, "Hi Kriti, not at all, I am not upset. I am sorry for the delayed response, had to take care of certain things. You there?"

There was no reply for some time, so he sent couple of more messages to her.

Dev, "text me, I am waiting to hear from you."

It was only about an hour after which Kriti responded to Dev's messages.

November Girl, "Hi Dev, glad to know that you are not upset. Listen, I can't chat right now. Can you please call me after an hour 976#$^*!%0."

Dev, "yeah sure, I will."

So Dev made her a call after an hour precisely.

Dev, "hey Kriti, Dev here, what's up?"

Kriti, "hey Dev, I am not really feeling great, I had a very bad day at work."

Dev, "ops! What went wrong?"

Kriti, "everything is going wrong dude, I am a victim of the dirty shit politics in this office. I had initiated talks for a new project, which turned out to be a potential one, something too big that the company had seen in a real long time."

Dev, "that sounds great know? Where is the problem in this?"

Kriti, "the problem is that my boss thinks my colleague who has spent more time in the company is a more qualified & appropriate candidate to handle it. Can you believe this shit? I did all the ground work & now I am just handing it over to someone else who has no knowledge what this client is all about. So I had a good enough argument & I guess I will be asked to leave."

Dev, "that so messed up man, this crappie politics at work sucks big time."

Kriti, "seriously dude, I really need to drink today, I need some serious drinking, can you please accompany me?"

Dev, "oh sure why not."

Kriti, "please can you pick me up from my place, I will text you my house address."

Dev, "done deal."

Kriti, "thanks dude, I owe you for this. TC & see you."

Dev, "see you in the evening."

Only a few minutes had passed after this talk when Dev got a call from Shalini.

Shalini, "what the f*^& are you going to eat tonight baby?"

Dev, "excluding your abuse, anything you make because everything you make turns out good & I just love it."

Shalini, "aww that's so sweet of you."

Now he remembers that he has to take Kriti out.

Dev, "hold on Shalini, big problem."

Shalini, "what happened?"

Dev, "I got to take Kriti out tonight."

Shalini, "are you serious you (beep) (beep) (beep) " what followed was a series of abuses which lasted for a good few minutes."

Dev, "are you done now? I have to take her out, please understand, she has had a bad day at work."

Shalini, "no ways, I am sure you guys planned this now. We made this plan last night, so please set your priorities right."

Dev, "OK then, as you wish. Please have a lot of booze stacked up for the evening."

Shalini, "what? Are you planning to drink tonight?"

Dev, "you will be surprised." (laughing)
