Chapter 52

On a Sunday morning without informing anyone Dev left his apartment, he headed to 23 Southhampton Row to Freestate Coffee. He was meeting someone who was about to give him a very important information for which he was struggling now long time. Dev never went anywhere without informing his wife Amelie but today was an exception. He reached the café, ordered for his usual espresso & waited in desperate anticipation for his friend. It had been about 15 minutes now, a young attractive lady walked towards him & took a seat on his table:

Dev, "what took you so long Brook?"

Brook, "traffic darling."

Dev, "traffic? On a Sunday morning?" 

Brook, "alright Mr. Timekeeper, relax, I had to do my make up." (smiling)

Dev, "so where is she?"

Brook, "currently settled in New Jersey, has changed everything about herself, guess she does not want you to find her (laughing)."

Dev, "well that's obvious, thanks Brook I owe you for this one."

Brook, "you owe me nothing darling, all this for old time sake. Hope you can make your peace with her. Here's all the information you need about her."

Dev called out for the cheque, made the payment, kissed good bye to his dear friend Brook & left the place. He headed straight home because he had to be there before his daughter & wife would get up. Brook was one of the girls Dev had dated during his early days in London. She was working as a reporter for a news channel & was interviewing Dev back then for a special segment that the channel was doing, 'young & successful'. Wrapping up the secretes he needed, he quickly rushed home & like a very good husband & dad got the breakfast ready for his family. On weekends he would cook, his wife & daughter loved Indian food & he delighted them every Sunday with his culinary skills.

It has been three years that he has been married, his wife Amelie is the daughter of the CEO of the company he works for. His daughter Sophie who is two is a sweetheart, extremely adorable. He is a very loving husband & a more loving father. His family back in India, well they miss him a lot, but Mr. Sinha, Rajat & Sangeeta do take these trips to London often to meet their sweet little granddaughter. Looks like things did not turnout for Dev the way he had planned but he is seeing a much better side of life. Only a very important chapter of his life is missing which is currently his greatest regret. After all who in this world has a perfect life but very few have the courage to try every day mending the damage done by the consequences of wreckage.
