Chapter 25

So the birthday morning was here, Dev was awaiting his mom to come & pick him up. His mom used to come & pick him up from his place for a family meal at her house. Dev's mom was settled in South Mumbai after the separation with Dev's father & used to live with her husband Rajat. In spite of living in the same city Dev never met his mother, expect for on his birthday. After waiting for a while he called her because she never got late, her phone was not reachable. Dev called his dad to check if he knew anything about this but his dad told him that he had spoken to her last night & she was as excited as always.

After speaking with his dad he got a call from Rajat & he asked Dev to come down, Dev was clueless about what was happening. He rushed down to ask him why his mother did not come to pick him up. Rajat informed him that his mother had met with a minor accident as she was driving in the morning to come to his place. Dev was concerned & asked Rajat to quickly take him to meet her. When they reached the hospital Dev rushed in to see how she was. She had very minor injuries & the doctor informed him that she could be taken home after a little rest. He immediately called his dad to inform him about this.

Dev, "dad, mom has met with a minor accident & I am here in the hospital, there is nothing to worry about."

Mr. Sinha (in a worried tone), "what?" "Dev, I am taking the next flight to come & see her."

Dev, "there is nothing to worry about."

Mr. Sinha, "no son I will not feel at peace, I have to come & see her."

Dev, "OK, I will book the flight ticket for you then."

As he kept the phone, Rajat came to inform him that his mom wanted to see him. He entered the room & sat next to her. She held his hand & tried to get up from the bed but Dev asked her to relax.

Sangeeta, "son, I am so sorry I ruined this very special day. (with tears in her eyes)

Dev, "oh come on mom, you don't think about it at all. You rest & yeah dad will be here by 1:00 to see you."

Sangeeta, "I feel so bad causing all this trouble."

Dev, "there is no trouble, all you need to do now is not think about anything & only rest. I will check with the doctor when we can take you home."
