Chapter 21

He had made no call to Shalini to inform her that he was getting Kriti along, so that horror he still had to face. Now see the good thing about this guy Dev is that, because he is so honest even about things that can land him in absolute trouble, he does not give a dam about what anyone's reaction is going to be. So he keeps having his share of trouble with people but the troubles don't ware him out because the contentment of being honest is far better. Yes the world around him definitely finds him weird because everyone is so used to the excuses & the lies that honesty & truth definitely looks suspicious. Anyways let's get back to our story; I got a little carried away.

Dev & Kriti reached Shalini's place & Dev knocked on the door.

Shalini, "can there be one day Dev in your life that you can get late?"

Dev, "I try to be on time & I have been successful every time."

Shalini, "you & your absurd statements."

Till now Shalini had not noticed Kriti.

Dev, "Shalini, turn around & see, I have someone here with me who is joining us for the party tonight."

Shalini quickly turned to see what Dev was talking about, "who the f@*& is this?"

Dev, "language."

Shalini, "Dev you mental, you could have at least told me."

Kriti (in an angry tone), "Dev, I want to leave right now."

Dev, "hold on just a minute, please Kriti, come in, sit here & be comfortable. I will be back in a bit. Shalini before you say a word further, please come here in the room, we need to talk."

Dev pulled Shalini to another room.

Shalini (in an angry tone), "I can't believe what is happening right here in front of my eyes. Did a girl just show me attitude right here in my house & I did not say a word to her."

Dev, "Shalini, please don't say a word. I had no option left; I had promised you & also made a promise to her. This was the only way to hang out with the both of you. Now if for my sake please you can get along with her, trust me we all can have a great time."

There was a pause as Shalini did not say a word but after a minute of thinking she said, "Dev I can't believe you have convinced me for this."

Dev, "I love you sweetheart."

Both of them walked out & Dev introduced them to each other, after an initial hiccup the gathering set in really well both the girls were enjoying the drinks & Dev was attending to them & also taking care of the music. Kriti like most was quite surprised to know that Dev did not consume alcohol or any form of drugs. Shalini gave Kriti a good know how about Dev as a person, which was impressive for Kriti. Just as they were enjoying, Kriti got a message from her sister to check if she was OK, but then Kriti was too busy to reply & it completely skipped her mind that she had to inform her sister that she was safe.
