Chapter 31 (part 3)

Dev kept the phone & helped Rajat up to his house, he opened the door & got him in. Sangeeta had already slept because of all that medication.

Rajat, "I can't disturb Sangeeta, I will stay here with you in the guest room. Hope you don't mind, & yes anyways I have to tell you further what happened."

Dev, "are you sure you don't want to sleep?"

Rajat, "very much, I won't get sleep now until I tell you what happened further."

Dev, "is it that interesting?"

Rajat, "well if you found what I told you until now interesting I am sure you will find the later part much more."

Dev, "OK, go on then."

Rajat, "it was a night very much like this, I was high, I didn't wanted to sleep but smoke & the only company I had was Boris. Now Boris was a man of talent, something which he did not share with many but he chose me. I was shocked when he told me everything about my life without me telling him a word about it. Among everything that he said, this specific thing hit me like a bullet on my head. He said that, the reason I had made friends with my loneliness was not because I was brave but because I was afraid of people leaving me. Much like becoming friends with an enemy who can hurt you. For all the high I had this sentence brought me low, it took me back to that one day when I was rejected & shunned by that girl. I asked him how he knew all of this, to which he replied it was not for me to know how he knew all of this but he had something much better to tell me, something that would set me free from this fear of being left alone."

Dev, "wao, now this is deep. Tell me what was it that he told you."

Rajat, "he said, in their clan there was a believe that if a man was to find true love ( was not refering to the hippie clan, his village clan back in Russia) he should not be looking out for it but help love find him."

Dev, "help me make sense out of this."

Rajat, "this came from a hippie so it is suppose to make no sense but then it worked for me."

Dev, "what did?"

Rajat, "he asked me to date 19 ladies who would walk into my life without judging their personalities, without telling them about my feelings & just for one night and at the end of these 19 dates I would come to a realisation of who from those 19 was the one meant for me."

Dev, "seriously? This is what he told you after speaking those brilliant philosophical lines. From reality show to a dam fantasy fairy tale (laughing)."

Rajat, "that night I laughed too but it did not stop the man from speaking. He said, do it if you want love to find you. I asked him why 19? He said, the number 19 is an endurance vibration. It brings everything into focus, winds up old accounts and starts off anew. I was blown up by this and I was never sure if I would ever want to do it. The next morning I returned to the hotel & apologised to my dad. My dad accepted my sorry & we left for home. On our way back, I kept thinking of everything that Boris spoke. I returned back to China but in my heart I was fighting to give or not to give chance to 19 dates until one day Suzan convinced me to give in."
