Chapter 28

Rajat went up to the guest room & knocked on the door, when Dev opened the door, he requested Dev to to step out as he wanted to have a word with him.

Dev, "hope mom is fine?"

Rajat, "yeah she is fine, can we go down, I wanted to talk to you about something."

Dev, "can't this wait until tomorrow?"

Rajat, "I am sorry Dev but there is something that I want to speak out since a long time. So I am requesting you to give me a couple of minutes."

Dev, "OK, sure then."

They went & sat in the living room, Rajat got himself a drink & a cup of coffee for Dev.

Rajat, "you know Dev, I think I am the most happy & content person from among all the people known to me."

Dev (sarcastic smile on his face), "I am sure that is a great feeling."

Rajat, "It is indeed but to see a tear in Sangeeta's eyes takes this feeling away from me & then makes me feel helpless & weak. I can get her anything & everything she wants but her heart, her very life and happiness is stuck with you. This is something that I fail to get for her."

Dev, "where are you leading this Rajat?"

Rajat, "I want you to not bring your mother any more sorrow."

Dev, "I have done nothing to bring sorrow to her. She is bringing it upon herself. I can't be a part of her life anymore & you are no one to ask me to do that."

Rajat, "I know I am no one to you but I am everything to her. Put yourself in my place, if there was one thing outside your power & capacity which would bring happiness to your dad, won't you try your best to get it for him?"

Dev had nothing to say to that.

Rajat, "if your mother chose to love me & be honest about it to the world, I believe no one in this world has the right to tell her that she is wrong. I understand your pain as her son Dev, but your pain & hatred is keeping you blinded to the love that she holds for you in her heart. I am a witness of her pain & sorrow to see that hatred you have for her in your heart. Why is it that only you children expect us parents to except you with all your flaws & choices that you make, different to ours? We have all the rights to choose the way we want to live our lives & that should not be the reason for you to hate. If there are differences make an effort to resolve it Dev because someone on the other hand is making an effort every single day. Your hatred for your mother is because of your ignorance to the fact that she loves you so much. The reason me & Sangeeta never chose to have a child of our own is because she never wanted to have a child other then you. Isn't this love Dev?"
