"So, how's school been? How's baseball?" Brenda asked, sitting on the couch across from the one Mark was stretched out on.

He shrugged "Good, I guess."

He really didn't feel like talking to her, and maybe she didn't like talking to him all that much either, since all she ever asked him about was school, sports, and sometimes girls. It's like she couldn't accept the fact that he liked boys, unlike her own son who of course  was straight and had a girlfriend.

"That's nice."

He turned his attention from his phone to his Dad who entered the room, wearing pajama pants and a black t-shirt that outlined his muscular chest and biceps.

"Mark, ya know, Sean is outside playing with the worms in the puddle at the end of the driveway." Clifton chuckled, sitting on the couch next to his son. "I told him not to walk over here cause it's too cold out, and if he wanted to come over to let me know so I could drive over there and get him, but he walked over here anyways, so."

The blonde woman had a confused look on her face. "Who's Sean? Is he the little boy in the purple rain coat?"

"He's my boyfriend." Mark grinned, laying his head on his dad's lap.

"What? I thought he was a kid?"

"Nope." Clifton cut in. "He's about to be sixteen in a few months, actually."

Her fingers found their way to a loose string hanging from the hem of her sweater. It was like she was trying to somewhat brush off everything she'd just heard by not responding. As if she was uncomfortable with the whole situation but kind of trying to be nice.

The Asian boy shrugged, getting up to go find his baby.

"So... Um, you're just okay with the fact that Mark... Is in a romantic relationship with another boy?"

"Mhm." The blonde man laid down in the same spot his son had just minutes before. "He's never shown an interest in girls, anyway. I never cared who he dated, though, as long as he's a gentleman and treats them right, ya know? And plus, I really like Sean. He's become a big part of my life as well."

Brenda turned her attention to the window, seeing both teenage boys sitting in the rain together. "But you never wanted him to be attracted to girls? Or have a girlfriend, like most normal teenage boys?"

"What do you mean normal? I think It's pretty normal. Boys like boys, like girls do."
