"Malcolm, can you wash the dishes? I really don't want to do it."
"Nope." Malcolm bluntly stated, getting up from the table and setting a dirty glass plate in the sink. "I don't wanna do it either. It's your turn, anyways!"
"But I really don't feel like it, I'm sad..."
"Jack, you don't have to do it right now if you don't want to, but those dishes are gonna pile up quick, and if you wait until later, you really aren't gonna wanna do it and it'll take way longer." Padraig cut in, glancing away from Malcolm's laptop screen and over to his son.
This only made Jack more frustrated. He stuck out his bottom lip, staring up at his older brother.
Malcolm smirked, pulling his water cup away from his mouth and spitting a mouthful of water into the small boy's face. Jack jumped at the sudden feeling of the cold liquid contacting his warm skin.
He sighed, looking down at his feet as tears threatened to spill from his eyes. The sound of Malcolm and his father's hysterical laughter echoing loudly throughout the kitchen.
"Why'd you do that? You're so mean to me!" Jack whined, turning on the faucet and starting to wash the few dishes in the sink. His vision becoming blurry with tears and his nose running.
"I'm sorry, but that was so funny!" The older boy chuckled.

Jack was petty as fuck sometimes, and he knew it. But he strongly believed that sometimes you have to do what's necessary.
He continued to cry as he dried the dishes . The slimy snot smeared across his top lip slightly running into his mouth, but right now he didn't really care.
Jack peered around the kitchen doorway, glancing around the living room to make sure Malcolm and his dad were nowhere in sight. He went back to the dishes he'd just washed and picked up one of glass cups that the two of them had claimed as their own by being the only ones to ever use them.
Using his finger, he wiped the snot from above his top lip and ran it along the rim of the glass cup in his hand. He grinned, doing the same to the other glass before standing on his tip-toes (because of how short he was) and placing the glasses in the cupboard where they belong.
