"When I was a kid I wasn't allowed to watch Cartoon Network because my mom said it would rot my brain."
"And look at you now." Their gym teacher nodded in Jack's direction and smirked, watching as the small Irish boy spun violently around in his swivel chair. His overgrown curly hair was up into two space buns, and he was currently filling in his thick eyebrows with a bright green dry erase marker. "Just... Why?"
The sole of his flip flop loudly squeaked against the tiled floor as he stopped the spinning chair. His mouth fell open and he held a small hand to his chest, "Shut your mouth! And don't hate on these eyebrows, they look cute," He turned to Mark, Ronnie and Jett, "Right, hunties?"
The three of them exchanged glances, not saying anything. Jett, trying his hardest not to roast Jack right then and there as he usually would do. Jack cringed a himself and turned back to the man standing in front of them.
"I don't know, Mark's dad thinks my brain is already too rotten, I think. He says I'm 'already too far gone'. Whatever that means."
It was probably true, and most likely, about 80% of the people Jack had ever come into contact with probably thought he was mentally challenged. Hell, his own brother even thought that.
Coach Moon raised an eyebrow and folded his arms across his chest, taking a seat on the opposite side of their table next to Jett.
"Jack, I worry about you sometimes. Do you have any plans for after you graduate high school? College?"
"Mmm, I know I wanna go for something medical. I want to be a nurse or something."
"Really?"
"Yeah. This one time when I was in kindergarten there was a girl in my class named McKayla, and she had glittery crayons and I wanted them so bad. I stole them right out her backpack when the whole class was out of the room during the restroom break, and then after a while she realized that somebody snatched her crayons and she started crying and the whole class had to help her find her crayons and the teacher searched everyone's backpacks and I got found out."
"Okay?"
"I wanted to fight her so bad."
"Jack, you need to be stopped." Ronnie giggled.
