The Neti Pot. A nasal rinsing device, effective for allergies and sinus congestion. According to Mark's dad anyway. Jack nor Mark had ever heard of such a thing.
They stood in the bathroom all together, staring dumbfounded at the small, tea pot-like device in Clifton's hand.
"What the fuck is that?" Jack asked, his face scrunching in confusion as he glanced repeatedly between Mark, Clifton, and the small, blue pot. Mark shrugged.
"It's a Neti Pot. You fill it with warm water and stick the spout in your nose and tilt your head, and the water will come out your earholes or your nose holes. It's used for, like, colds and stuff." Clifton briefly demonstrated without actually doing it. "Jack, don't say fuck. Fuck is a bad word."
Mark sniffled, "I don't understand."
"Me neither."
Clifton rolled his eyes and sucked his teeth, thinking he might have an aneurysm any moment. He stuck the pot in the sink and turned on the faucet, letting the water get warm before filling it up.
"Literally, it's not a hard concept. Do you want me to do it for you?"
Mark nodded and Clifton grabbed a spare hair tie off his wrist and tied his son's hair up so it wouldn't get wet. Jack simply stood and watched curiously as the blonde man stuck the spout of the Neti Pot into Mark's right nostril and forced his head to the opposing side.
Water trickled out of Mark's left nostril and he screamed, immediately tilting his head back. He coughed and water shot out of his mouth and nose onto Clifton's face.
The older man closed his icy blue eyes and took in a long, deep breath in attempt to calm himself. He snatched a towel off the counter and dried his face with it. "Mark!"
"That was unfortunate." Jack laughed, hugging his sick fiancé.
"Sorry, I got scared! I really felt like I was drowning!"
Clifton yanked off his now drenched shirt and tossed it to the floor as he started towards his bedroom with Mark and Jack following closely behind.
