If only if only we could have more shows as perfect as this one. This is the second time I had to cry because of a cartoon today. The first time being finding Dory for which I will probably write a review later and the second one being steven universe. And to be honest: I cried harder over mr. Greg.
First of all, what a relieve this was after drop beat dad. That episode wasn't terrible, but it was... under SU standard. But Holy smokes mr. Greg was above standard, even for steven universe.
The songs were beautiful. All of them. My favorite is probably it's over, isn't it? I really like the Pearl songs and they make me tear up all the time. All of the Pearl songs have a place in my top 10 SU songs, so this episode was just pure gold for me. The up-beat parts in the beginning were fun, but the sad songs were probably better.
The animation was at it's best here. With the little 360 turn around Pearl's head while She's singing and with the wonderful backgrounds and special effects.... I don't have words for it. If this show isn't going to get any awards in the next few years I don't want to live on this planet anymore.
And last the sweet taste of closure. It's really good to see that this show can so easily sneak in controversial topics like Death, grief and biseksuality. It sais something about society as a whole. We are not affraid to teach our kids about these heavy subjects anymore. I think that's really positive.
The gap between Greg and Pearl caused by the loss of rose has also been closed now. That's a real relieve, because it's one of the storylines that you can't wrap up so quickly and yet they did. I have to applaude you once again cartoon network and SU. You've made me cry way to many times. Keep up the good work!
Also the other songs; just listen them, the're great:
