Hey guys, I love almost everything that has to do with animation. I can even enjoy adds if they're animated well, so it shouldn't be such a surprise that I like MLP too. Now, hold the phone. I don't love it. I can enjoy it for it's animation style and characters. However, I find the stories too boring so I don't watch it very often. It's charming sometimes and I love it's style, it's just that I'm not that invested in it. I love series with characters with great depht, dramatic plottwists etc. and MLP hasn't that.
However, I consider myself a brony. I follow the fanart on deviantart, follow the discussions, see the reviews and watch the fananimations. Hack, I've even made myself a ponysona!
Now, the pony community has gotten really bad critism, but what show hasn't? The more popular it gets, the more hate it gets too. That counts for almost every fandom. If you know someone who hates the show: you can't force them to love it, but they may change their opinion if you show them an amazing video or song. My brother for example sometimes makes fun of that I watch it, but when I showed him the discord video, he almost immediately fell in love with it.
Yes, MLP fans can go way overboard with their love for the show, but then again; what fandom hasn't. I can easily name more than 10 fandoms that are considered "weird" or "over the top." In the end it all the critism doesn't really matter: what matters is that you like it.
