Chapter 7

Star's P.O.V.

'I hope Team Natsu and Jake get here soon.' I looked at the monsters as they began to circle around Gray and I while Gray and I pressed our backs together. They had black fur but also had what looked like spikes on its back with armored white parts on it. They also had red eyes, their face area was white with red markings on them. (A/n: If you need to look at a picture then it's at the front.) They were multiplying from every angle, left and right while they growled at us. "Well I did want a challenge! Might as well take some down till the rest get here." I told Gray as ice and shadows circled around my hand while I smirked at the monsters. "Yea, but we need to notify the rest of the team where we're at." Gray said, putting his right fist in his left hand while we moved in a circle to look at the monsters. "Got it." I shot up an ice flare and when it went high enough it exploded, making it look like snow was falling towards the ground. "That should do it, now let's see if you still got it old man." I told Gray as I smirked at him while Gray and I pushed our backs together. "I'm not old! Plus you've got three sets of magic! I only got one!" Gray yelled, the monsters growling at us as he gave me a slight glare while I smirked at him. "Alright, Alright I see your point. How about I just use my Ice-Make Magic then?" I smirked at Gray, knowing that he'll say 'yes' as I watched the monsters while I felt him nod his head. "Alright, let's see if my pupil has advanced in her Ice-Make Magic." Gray said as he turned his head to look at me while he slightly smirked at me. "Ha! I've advanced grandpa! Lets make a bet alright? I bet that I could kill the most monsters without your help or the teams. If I win then I get to call you old man for a week and you have to buy me food ok." I told Gray as the monsters stopped a foot away from us just standing there ready to attack us while Gray had an irk mark on his head. "Alright and if I win then you have to buy me food and let me call you shorty for a week." Gray said as I had an irk mark on my head while I could feel him smirking at me. The red-eyed monsters then tried to slash at us, but we jumped up into the air before they could hit us while they created a lot of dust to fly everywhere. "Deal!" I yelled as Gray and I shook each others hands while we smirked at one another. We both looked at the monsters then dashed towards them while we both smirked at the bears. "Ice-Make: Lance!" I yelled as ice shot out of my hand, hitting the monster but it didn't do anything as the monster came charging at me. I jumped over the monster while I put my right fist on my left hand, ready to chant a spell while I narrowed my eyes a bit. "Ice-Make: Spears!" Huge, thick spears pierced through the monster as it fell to the ground, dead while I landed on the ground. 'Well that's one point for me!' I ran to the next monster ready to kill it while I slightly frowned when I noticed that more were coming. 'I wonder where the rest of the team is?'

Lucy's P.O.V.

'Few minutes earlier'

"Thank you Fairy Tail for doing this for our town." The client said as we left her house, the client talked to us for what seemed like forever but was only forty minutes. "Hey? Where are Star and Gray?" I asked out loud making us stop walking while I looked around for those two. "Oh, Star wanted to go see if she could find the monsters, but since she's hurt I told Gray to go along with her." Erza said as she turned to us while I nodded my head. "WHAT?!? They went to find the monsters without me?!?! I'm going to beat that pervy popsicle into a pulp!" Natsu yelled as he waved his fist around while he looked left and right for Gray. "Why did you send only them Erza? Why not send Jake or Natsu instead?" Wendy asked Erza which made all of us look at her while she had a small smile. "I could see that Gray cares for Star just like Jake does and I know he feels horrible for making that promise to her that he'd be back and he didn't. This was a good time for them to bond and spend time with each other." Erza said, but I could see a sparkle in her eyes while my eyes widen in realization. 'That wasn't her plan at all! I could see that sparkle glint! I know that glint anywhere! She's trying to s-' "Please! I'm looking for Fairy Tail! Has anyone seen them!" We heard a lady yell as she pushed her way around the crowd while she had a panic look on her face. She had light brown hair but also had some grey hairs, she had dark brown eyes with freckles across her cheeks and had a baby asleep in her arms. We all looked at each other then nodded our heads before running up to the lady. "Miss, were you looking for Fairy Tail?" I asked her as she looked at me in panic while she held her baby close to her. "Yes! You had two other friends with you right?!" The lady asked, making me worried about Star and Gray while Erza looked at her with an eyebrow raised. "Yes, why? What happened?" Erza asked the lady in a calm voice, but I could tell that she was worried about Gray and Star. "Well they were at the far east of the village and I heard them say something about getting rid of the monsters here so I talked to a boy with black hair while a girl in a cloak held my baby to try and calm her down. I then showed them where the monsters are but the monsters came out and slashed the girl in the cloak sending her and my baby to a run down building. The young man got all the rubble off of her, but she had claw marks on her back. I worried for her and my baby but she surprised me. She kept my baby safe and out of harm, not a single scratch. More monsters started to come so she told me to go into this black hole that took me to the entrance of the village. She also told me to find her other friends to go help her." After the lady finished her story, we saw what looked like a light blue flare shooting up from the ground, then it exploded into what looked like snow falling to the ground. "That's Star's signal! Her and Gray must be over there!" Jake yelled as he transformed into a huge wolf, scaring the women while we all nodded our heads. "Thank you ma'am for telling us. For now, stay in the village and try to warn people." Erza told the lady as the lady nodded her head while we got on Jake's back. "Please be safe!" We heard the women yell as Jake took off running towards the light blue flare while I gripped onto Jake's fur. "I wonder if Star's ok? That lady said that a monster slashed at her back and she's still fighting?!" Wendy said as she looked worried for Star while Erza sighed and shook her head. "I knew she would do something like this. She's pushing herself too much to almost where she's near death. That's why I sent Gray with her, to make sure that she has help and not over working herself." Erza said as I looked at Jake's fur while Jake ran towards the light blue flare. 'I wonder why she's pushing herself like this. No one that I know would be pushing themselves like this. It scares me to think that she's doing this to protect us, but from what exactly?' I sighed as we began to get close to where Gray and Star were at while I frowned a bit. "We're almost there! Hold on, we're going fast!" Jake yelled as he looked back at us while we nodded our head and grabbed onto his fur. Jake all of a sudden ran at an inhuman speed towards Star and Gray while we held onto his fur tightly. "Look!" Wendy pointed as we saw Gray and Star fighting what looked like bears but they had red eyes, white stuff on their face, and spikes on their backs. "Come on Star! Your going slow!" "Hey! Watch it old man! I'm going faster than you!" "Pft! Please I bet you only got ten at the most!" "Oh yea stripping ice berg! I bet you only got five since your moving so slow! Ice-Make: Hammer!" We looked at them both with a sweat-drop as they fought the bear things while arguing with each other. "Uhhh? What's going on?" I asked out loud, but the rest just shrugged their shoulders while I shook my head at the two. "Well come on! I'm tired of standing around! I'm ready to take on these things! Fire Dragon's Iron Fist!" Natsu yelled as he charged towards the monsters while his fist was in flames. "Very well then, Requip: Lighting Empress Armor." I heard Erza say as she transformed into her Lighting Empress Armor with her spear in her hand. Wendy went to where Erza was to help her with the other bear monster things while I let a smirk graze my features. "Well I'm not just going to stand around and do nothing! Open Gate of the Goat: Capricorn!" I drew Capricorns key as he came next to me in his tux while his arms were behind his back. "How may I assist you Lady Lucy?" Capricorn asked as he looked down at me while I pointed towards the bear things. "Please take those things out!" "As you wish Lady Lucy." Capricorn said as he went to beat the monsters while I looked at the others. "Sky Dragon's Roar!" "Ice-Make: Lance!" "Ice-Make: Sword!" I heard chants from left and right as I saw everyone's magic glow in front of them while I focused on Capricorn. "Ice-Make: Rose Garden!" I heard Star yell as most of the bear things were frozen where they stood while Star stood in front of them with a smirk. "Ice-Make: Cannon!" Star chanted while a cannon came onto her shoulders then it shot towards the bears, making them shatter onto pieces. "Wow Star! Nice shot!" I yelled as Star nodded her head at me while she ran off to fight another monster. All of a sudden, a shadow loomed over me, making me shiver in fear while I slowly looked behind me only to see the bear thing growling at me. The bear thing picked up its paw ready to hit me but for some reason I couldn't move. 'W-Why can't I move?! Come on!' I closed my eyes, waiting for its claws to scratch me while I braced myself for the pain.. "Lucy!" I heard my name be called as I was suddenly hugged by someone then thrown somewhere while we both grunted in pain. "You idiot, you can o-open your eyes now." I opened my eyes only for them to widen in shock as I let out a gasp while I shook a bit. Star was the one who hugged me and took the hit for me, she looked to the side and began to cough slightly while she shut her left eye in pain. "Are you ok Lucy!?" Star asked as she had a worried look on her face while I looked at her with wide eyes. "Me?! I should be asking you that?! Why did you do that?!" I yelled as I shook her shoulders, making her wince in pain while my eyes began to water. "Heh! I'm fine! Whelp gotta go beat some monsters! Be sure to watch your surroundings ok, they're coming in fast." Star said as she ran towards the bears, but my eyes widen when I saw her back while Star glared at the bears. Star had at least eight fresh claw marks on her back, blood dripping from it, but she didn't show any signs of pain what so ever and that worried me. 'How? How is she able to still fight in that condition?' "Lucy......Do you ever get that fear of being close to someone? Knowing that you'll only cause pain to every one?" My eyes widen as I heard Star's words from when we went to that lake pop in my head while I continued to look at her fight. 'What did she mean by that statement? I know that her two friends died, but it looks like there's more to her past then she is letting on.' I looked towards Jake as he was fighting the bears, but he would continuously look at Star to make sure that she was ok. 'I wonder if Jake knows her past as well? I just know that Star is hiding something from us, all of us but she doesn't want us to know. But why?' "Lady Lucy, are you alright?" I heard Capricorn ask as he stood in front of me with a hand out while I blinked my eyes rapidly. "O-Oh yes Capricorn! Star saved me, thank goodness." Capricorn nodded his head as he turned his head to look at Star while he had a frown on his face. "Is something the matter Capricorn?" I asked him as I looked around only to see that all the monsters were defeated then I looked back up at Capricorn. "That girl, Star, something feels.....off about her. I just can't put my finger on it." Capricorn said as he held his hand near his mouth while I also looked at Star. "I'm sure it's nothing Capricorn. You may go back now to rest." "As you wish, Lady Lucy." Capricorn said as he disappeared into the Celestial World while Team Natsu, Star, and Jake came near each other. "Is every-" "Alright old man! How many did you get?!" Star yelled at Gray as she turned towards him while she pointed at Gray with a small frown. "I got twenty! How many did you get shorty!" Gray yelled as he crossed his arms over his now bare chest while Gray glared at Star. "Damn it! We both got twenty, so how are we going to do this? Mmhhm?" Star said as she looked up in a thinking pose while tapping her chin. "Um? What's going on?" I asked them as I took a step towards them while I looked at both of them in confusion. "Huh? Oh Gray and I betted that who ever got the least monsters would have to buy the winner food and get to call them names for a whole week. But since we both got twenty I guess our only option is that I call Gray old man and buy Gray food!" Star said but Gray shook his head 'no' which caused her to frown while he placed his hand on his hip. "How about I call you shorty and I'll buy you food." Gray said as he looked down at Star with a smirk while Star shook her head, glaring daggers at Gray. "If you want to live I suggest you take my first offer old man!" "I don't like that suggestion shorty!" "Well too-!" "Enough! Gray you will call Star shorty and buy her food! Star you will call Gray old man and buy his food! There!" Erza yelled, scaring Gray as she glared at the two while Star just looked up to think. "Tch, I guess that could work." Star said as she crossed her arms, but winced in pain when Jake inspected her back. "You idiot." Jake said as he hit Star's head with his hand while she glared at him. "Hey! What was that for?!" "Your back is bleeding pretty bad you dummy! You over worked yourself again!" Jake yelled as he shook his head and made Star sit on the ground while Star rolled her eyes. Star mumbled some words under her breath as she crossed her arms under her boobs while Jake took out some bandages from his bag. "I'll try to heal as much as I can." Wendy said as she walked up to Star and began to heal her while Wendy smiled at Star. "And on top of that!! You're over working little Wendy! You idiot!" Jake yelled again as he thwacked Star on her head while Star growled and rubbed her head. "I-I don't mind healing-" "No Wendy. (Sigh) Jake's right. I'm over working you on your magic and that's not good for you. I'll try to be more careful next time ok." Star told Wendy as she smiled down at her while Star ruffled Wendy's hair. "Alright, but I'll still heal you. After all we're all here to help you for whenever you need us!" Wendy said as she smiled at Star while I saw Star slightly flinched, but I don't know if it was because of what Wendy said or because of Jake. "Yea I know." Star said, smiling back at Wendy but I could tell that it was fake, her face says that she's fine but her eyes tell a different story. 'Just what is going on with you Star?' "There, your wounds are healed but only a little bit so Jake will have to bandage you up ok." Wendy told Star as she moved her hands away from Star's back while Star nodded her head. Jake sighed as he began to place gauges on Stars back then started wrapping her with the bandages while Jake mumbled under his breath. "This is why I sent Gray with you Star. You're pushing yourself too much and I knew this would happen." Erza said as she walked in front of Star while she knelt down to Star's level. "Erza, all of you, I'm not a little kid anymore. Yes, you guys may have been gone for seven years and to you it feels like the S-Class games were just yesterday, but you have to know I'm a trained wizard in magic and combat. Yes, I know I push myself pass my limits sometimes but it's because-" Star stopped herself as she looked down at the ground while she clutched her fist tightly. "Because what Star?" Happy asked as he flew towards her, landing in her lap while he looked up at her with a sad look. "Because I want to protect everyone so they won't feel what I've felt before. I may be that eleven year old kid in your eyes but open them wider. I'm seventeen almost eighteen years old and I've been in bigger fights then this, gotten bigger scars than this. I know you guys are worried about me and I'm happy for that, but you don't have to always worry about me all the ti- Ow! Jake!" Star yelled as she turned to glared at Jake while Jake smiled like a Cheshire cat. "Hehe sorry pulled too tight." Jake apologized as he rubbed the back of his head while he continued to wrap Star's back. "Anyways, you don't have to worry about me all the time ok." Star said as she looked up at us, smiling a bit while Erza sighed at Star. "I'm sorry Star, but I'm still worried about your health. That's why I want you to join Team Natsu from now on." Erza said as she stood up while Jake finished wrapping the bandages around Star. "As much as I want to I can't. Jake and I are a team and I can't just leave him." Star said, looking at Jake but her eyes say something different as she gave us a strained smile while Jake looked down at her. "Then let's let Jake join too!" Natsu yelled as he went near Jake while he wrapped an arm around him. "U-Uh I don't know, isn't the group big enough already?" Star asked as she looked away from us while she crossed her arms. "The more the merrier! Come on Star please!" Happy and Wendy said as they looked at her with pleading eyes while they clung onto her arm. "Fine I guess." Star said a she smiled down at the two while she put Happy in her arms. "Alright! Now let's go home!" "Aye sir!" Happy and Natsu yelled as they put their fist in the air while Natsu smiled down at Star. 'Star, what are you hiding from us?'
