Chapter 40

Third Person P.O.V.

'Fairy Tail.....' Star sighed as she began to make her way to the guild, pulling up her hood to cover her face while Star clutched her hands a bit. Star walked into the new guild with a small frown as Star watched everyone get comfortable and laugh with one another while Star furrowed her eyebrows a bit. Star felt at home when she looked around the new guild as she let out a sad sigh while Star looked down at the ground. "Star!" "Mhm?" Star turned around to see Gray walk up to her with a smile on his face as he tilted his head to the side while Star looked up at Gray. "Hey, Wendy, Carla, Erza and I are gonna head out on a mission. Do you wanna come?" Gray asked as he scratched the back of his head with a small smile, causing Star to smile sadly at Gray while she shook her head. "Sorry. I feel a bit tired. I think I'm just going to stay. Sorry Gray." Star said sadly as she looked away from Gray while Gray frowned a bit, but he quickly gave Star a smile. "No worries. Next time ok!" Gray said as he began to head towards Erza and the other two girls while Star watched Gray leave with a small frown on her face. 'I'm sorry Gray....but there won't be a next time...' Star walked out of the guild as she walked the streets of Magnolia with a sad look while people waved and smiled at her. Star would sometimes wave back at them or she would nod her head at them as they all cheered for Star, but Star was in no cheering mood. Erza glanced over to Gray with a small frown when she noticed that Star wasn't with him as she watched Gray stand in front of them. "Where's Star?" Erza asked Gray as she raised an eyebrow at Gray while Gray smiled sadly at Erza. "She didn't want to come. Said that she was tired and I don't blame her." Gray said as he smiled a bit at the buildings in front of him, but Gray didn't notice Erza frowning a bit while the four began to walk to the train station. 'There's something going on with Star....but what?' Erza, Wendy, Gray, and Carla headed out to do their job as they all thought about a certain black haired mage. Natsu, Happy, and Lucy were also out doing a job which was getting rid of a mole in a city, but Lucy frowned a bit as she walked with Natsu and Happy to the guild while Lucy furrowed her eyebrows a bit. 'Star seemed a bit different.....like when we first came back from Tenrou Island. I hope she's ok.' Lucy let out a small sigh as she closed her eyes, but Natsu heard Lucy's sad sigh which caused him to look at her while Natsu raised an eyebrow at her. "Something the matter Lucy?" Natsu asked as Happy looked over to Lucy with a small frown while Lucy sighed and looked up at Natsu. "I'm just.....worried about Star. I mean it feels like she's distancing herself from us again." Natsu frowned a bit at what Lucy had said as he looked at Lucy's worried look on her face while Natsu let out a small hum. "Yea....I noticed it too. Star hasn't been herself since the whole Dragon thing." Natsu said as he remembered when he fist talked to her telepathically during the ball and how off she sounded when he talked to her. "Do you think Star's sick?" Happy asked as he frowned down at the two in worry while Natsu shook his head a bit at Happy. "No....I don't think she's sick....but there's something she's not telling us." Natsu said with a small frown as an image of Star frowning popped in his head while Lucy nodded her head. "Yea....but what could it be?" Lucy asked as she worried about a certain Dragon Slayer while Natsu frowned a bit at the ground. 'What's going with you Frostbite?' Star frowned a bit at the city, flashbacks coming back to her from when she first came to Fairy Tail and when she first walked the streets of Magnolia when she was just a kid. 'It was so long ago, but I can still remember it like it was yesterday.'

"Y-You want me to join your guild?" A younger version of Star asked as she looked up at the Fairy Tail Wizards that had just saved her from that dark guild while they smiled down at her. "Well yea. How am I going to teach you Ice Make Magic if you're not apart of the guild?" Gray asked as he looked down at Star with a small smirk on his face while Star looked up at Gray with wide eyes. "Come on! Let's get to the guild so we can get Star a guild mark!!" Natsu yelled as he gave Star a closed eye smile, tilting his head a bit at Star while Star slowly smiled up at the wizards in front of her. "Thank you!" Star yelled as she gave the group a closed eye smile, causing the wizards to smile down at the small child while they nodded their heads. The gang and Star began to head towards Magnolia on foot since Natsu managed to convince the others to walk while Star held Gray's hand, still feeling a bit weak from the events that had happened. They got to Magnolia thirty minutes, all of them feeling a bit tired from the walk, but young Star was full of energy as she looked at all the people that walked the streets. "It looks so lively here! And there's a candy shop too!!" Star yelled as she looked at the candy shop with hearts in her eyes while the gang looked down at Star with a small smile. Gray shook his head at Star as he swung their arms back and forth with a smile on his face while Erza looked at the two with a smile. 'It's been a while since I saw Gray smile like that. He actually looks like a father to her.' Erza continued to smile at the two as she watched Gray hold Star's hand while Natsu smirked at the two. "Maybe Gray can take you later Star!" Natsu said as he smirked a bit at Gray, who glared daggers at Natsu, while Star looked up at Gray with wide eyes, a blush spreading across her cheeks. "Really!?" Gray looked down at Star with a small blush on his cheeks when he saw her wide eyes and her smiling face while Gray turned his head slightly. "Y-Yea. After we get you to the guild." Star let out a giggle as she bounced a bit, causing Gray to smile down at her while Gray shook his head at Star. "Thank you!" Gray nodded his head at Star, giving her hand a small squeeze as Gray smiled lovingly down at Star while Star giggled a bit at him. "Here we are!" Lucy yelled as she and the others stood in front of the Fairy Tail Guild with huge smiles on their faces while they gestured the guild with their hands. "Welcome to Fairy Tail Star!!" Happy yelled as he flew above Star with a big smile while Star looked up at the building with wide eyes. "Wooooow~! It's huge!" Star yelled as she continued to look up at the building with wide eyes while Gray smiled down at Star. "Let's go in." Star nodded her head as they all began to walk into the guild, dodging a couple of chairs being thrown at them while Gray picked up Star and held her like a father would do for his daughter. "Hey! Watch where you're throwing those!!" Gray yelled out to some of the members as he held Star closer to his body while the members of the guild stopped what they were doing and looked up to Gray with wide eyes. "Gray! When did you have a kid!?" Cana asked as she placed her mug full of beer down on the table while Gray blushed a bit, not noticing Juvia's glares. 'My beloved Gray has a women and a child!! How did I not know about this?!' "We rescued her during our job. Star here is going to be my pupil." Gray announced as he smiled at Star, causing the girl to smile back at him while Star hid in the crook of Gray's neck, a bit shy. "Awe! She's so cute!" Mira yelled as she walked in front of Gray with a soft smile while Star looked up a bit at Mira. "Is she joining?" Levy asked as she gave Star a smile too, loving how Gray and Star looked like a father and Daughter. "Yea, where's Gramps?" Gray asked as he moved Star a bit on his waist while Star blushed a bit since Gray was shirtless and carrying her. 'How did I not see that he was shirtless! But....for some reason....his cold air is really calming...' "I'm over here." Star and Gray looked over to the counter to see Master Makarov standing near the bar with his arms behind his back while he walked over to Gary and Star. "Brought home a gift huh Gray?" Makarov asked as he looked up at Gray with a small smirk while Gray nodded his head, placing Star down on the ground. "What's your name child?" Makarov asked as he looked up at Star with a small smile while Star looked away from Makarov with a shy look. "M-My name's Star Mayweather s-sir!" Star said as she looked down at Makarov in nervousness, a small blush forming in her cheeks while Makarov smiled up at Star. "No need to be so formal with me dear! Just Gramps is ok!" Star looked down at Makarov with a small smile as she nodded her head at him while Makarov looked up and down her body. "What magic do you use dear?" Makarov asked as he looked up at Star, but he frowned a bit when he noticed that Star was frowning while she furrowed her eyebrows a bit. "I-I don't know what magic I use...I don't remember much other than living in that cell.....Sorry." Makarov frowned sadly at Star as he noticed that Star trembled a bit where she stood. "Mhm....Mira! Get the stamp!" Star's eyes widen a bit as she watched the white haired mage go to the back of the counter while Gray placed a hand on top of Star's head. "Looks like you're apart of the guild now!" Gray said as he smiled down at Star, ruffling her hair a bit while Star smiled up at Gray with gleaming eyes. "Here we go!" Mira said as she smiled down at Star, holding a pallet with all different types of colors while Star's eyes widen a bit. "W-What do I do?" Star asked as she looked back at Gray with a nervous look on her face while Gray smiled down at Star. "Choose a color and then where you want to put your mark!" Gray said as he smiled softly down at Star while Star looked over the colors in the pallet with a small smile. "I guess black and may I have it on my left collarbone?" Star asked as she looked up at Mira with a smile while Mira knelt down in front of Star with a kind smile. "Of course! Here we go!" Mira said as she placed the stamp on Star's collarbone, the stamp shinning a bit while Mira pulled away the stamp from Star's collarbone. "Welcome to the Guild Star!"
