The Superhero that's being a Superjerk

I went back into my room and curled up into a ball on my bed.  I heard Alex on the phone in the kitchen.  I kept listening for It to wake up and come after me, I think Alex only hit him once, and if what he did the first time is any indication, I give it about another minute.  Alex came back into the room and sat next to me, I leaned into him and wrapped his arm around me.  He rubbed my shoulder.  I looked up at him and sighed.  Life was always gonna suck, wasn't it?

As if answering my question, he sighed and leaned his head against me.  I'll take that as a yes.  We both heard a moan and Alex snapped to attention.  He launched up to go to Mike and beat him some more.  I followed close behind just in case I had to pull Alex off before we got to murder.

Mike was using the bed to help himself up.  I stood on the opposite end of the room while Alex sped over and slammed him against the wall.

"Apologize."  He ground through his teeth while pushing him against the wall by his throat.

"For what?  Being thrown in jail, by her?  I think not."  Alex slammed his head against the wall.  I heard a knock on the door.  I ran to open it and saw two officers, definitely not happy to be here at two in the morning.  I led them to the room where Alex still had him pressed against the wall.  They took him away and I gave a sigh of relief.  Maybe now, I might get some sleep.  I didn't want to sleep in my parent's room, but I also didn't know if Alex was okay with me sharing a bed with him now.  I walked to the living room that still had my pillow and blanket all set up.

I crawled under the covers and tried to fall asleep.  An hour later, I woke up on top of someone's chest.  I looked down and saw Alex's face, sound asleep.  He must've picked me up and brought me here.  He's gonna hurt himself from all of that.  I rolled off his chest onto the mattress.  He sat up alert and looked around for a second.  Someone wasn't sleeping well.  He put his back against the wall and rubbed his eyes.  I crawled next to him and leaned into him again.  "I guess I get major brownie points now huh?"

"How did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"Mike said you were taped up."

"What?  No.  I was listening to music and must've hit the pause button.  I heard you talking to someone and thought it was Jake, I originally went in there to give him a piece of my mind until I heard the whole, "You don't have to do this" bit, then I got scared and hit him.  Why isn't he in jail?"

"Until the trial is held, they wanted him to be able to keep up with his education."

"Idiots."

"Yeah, but now he can get put away for longer."  Alex nodded against the top of my head, "Now, my other question, why am I here, thought you said you couldn't share a bed with me?"

"I heard another thud and you were on the floor, must've rolled off the couch."

"Oh, thanks.  I'll just go back out there then."

"Okay."  I felt something remorseful in his voice, almost like he wanted to say something else.  If he did, he had to speak up because I couldn't read minds.

"Oh, Cyd?"

"Yeah?"

"Sleep well."  I just nodded and left.  What kind of jerk wouldn't stop their girlfriend from leaving?  I get that we are in a precarious position right now, but Jesus Christ.

I huffed and fell back onto the couch.  It was four o'clock and I knew there was really no chance of me going back to sleep again.  So, I turned the TV on mute and went to the DVR for Young & Hungry.  The subtitles were on time for once and I watched a whole season before I realized it was almost seven in the morning.  The sun had risen and I could hear Alex snoring from my room.

I thought of getting up and making us breakfast, but since my superhero was being a super-jerk, I had better things to do.  He wanted me to be sure that I wanted only him?  Well, I would have to go out with Jake to be sure of that yeah?

I texted him and asked if he wanted to go out later.  He said sure and he would pick me up at six, dress nice.  Define nice?  Dress or jeans?  I decided to go ahead with a nice dress.  I walked into my room and began getting ready.  He woke up as I was changing my bra.

I was in a neon pink thong and putting on the push-up bra to match.  His eyes widened as he saw me, almost like he didn't know what to do.  I didn't let it bother me as I adjusted my girls and continued to slide on my fitted black lace dress with long lace sleeves.  It was a quarter away from my knees and flared out like a skater skirt.  I spun around and admired my fiery red hair compared to the dark fabric.  Pleased, I sat down at my desk to start putting on my makeup.

I winged my eyeliner nicely and did a darker eye shadow, trying to perfect the smokey eye look.  It was okay, so then I started on the mascara.  It started to clump until I brushed them out.  I applied my lipstick, which was the same shade as my hair and called it good.  Speaking of hair, the only thing I had to do was brush it out, it had a nice wave and decided to behave today.

Alex hadn't said anything, and I was finished right at four thirty.  I checked my phone and saw a text from Laurie:

What are you doing?  What the fuck Cydney?!

I quickly texted her what Alex said last night and left it alone.  I ran back into my room and pulled on a pair of nice black stilettos, it would make me about the same height as Jake.  Alex still hadn't said anything, just followed me in awe.  I don't think he understood what was going on until there was a knock on the door and he answered it to see Jake standing there in a dress shirt and slacks and a bouquet of flowers.  He stepped outside and spoke to Jake for a minute before storming back in the house.  "You look hot, don't get pregnant."

I bit my lips and walked through the front door.  I think he realized just what he signed himself up for.  Most guys would lock their girlfriends in a tower, but not me, he gave me a challenge, that I had to prove to him what he messed up on.  I walked down to the car and got in.
